The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Act has passed the FL Legislature and heads to the Governor for signature. While not perfect, this bill represents the most significant retreat for the NRA in FL in the last 20 years. We still have work to do but this is a first step.

At the MSD trial, I listened to the medical examiner describe the “snowstorm” impact of high-velocity rounds on the human body (in this case tearing through high schoolers.). If that horror doesn’t move you to act on gun reform to keep our kids safe, I'm not sure what else would.
Just returned home from court. Today, the medical examiner covered Jaime's autopsy. He discussed in detail what a single AR 15 bullet did to kill my daughter. I hope she died instantly and did not suffer as blood filled her chest. Please pay attention to this trial and VOTE!

After the shooting at my alma mater, MSD, FL raised the age from 18 to 21 to buy a long gun. Now, just 5 years later, they are bringing HB 1543 to the House Floor. The bill lowers the age back to 18 in spite of data that shows most school shootings are perpetrated by 18-21yo.

Post Parkland, the Legislature raised the age to buy a long gun to 21 and that law has helped keep Florida safer. Now, just weeks before the 6th year anniversary of MSD, they’re looking to roll it back. Shameful. The bill failed last year and I hope it does again.
Tomorrow, Fl House will try to roll back the Marjory Stoneman Douglas act passed after the Parkland shooting. With no notice & no critical debate, they will take up rolling back waiting periods & age. They are doing this only 2 weeks from the 6 year remembrance of the shooting.
