Recent dam failures have made headlines, highlighting the poor condition of many of the nation's dams. Without funding, maintenance, inspection, upgrades, and emergency planning, the risks associated with dams increase. Know the risks. #DamSafetyDay

May 31-Dam Safety Awareness Day reminds us that dam failures can and do happen. As we see funding at the federal level redirected away from dam safety, decisionmakers must be made aware of the risks associated with dams. Learn more about #DamSafetyDay at https://t.co/GsdBJndVKB.

Our $38 million investment into the Mineral Ridge Dam will help @Ohio_EMA and @MeanderWater reduce risks of downstream flooding and protect the drinking water for more than 220,000 people in and around Youngstown, OH. It's part of our plan to make communities stronger.

May 31 is National Dam Safety Awareness Day. The following photo is wreckage after the flood in Johnstown, PA. The issue of dam safety was not widely recognized until 1889 when the failure of South Fork Dam claimed more than 2,200 lives. #DamSafetyDay

Avoid restricted areas near dams. Whether you're fishing, boating, or swimming, keep an eye out for warning signs and signals, and stay sharp for changing water currents. Make sure to have a safety plan before heading out on the water. https://t.co/okxavXFN6Q #DamSafetyDay
