This is one of the most under appreciated aspects of the benefits that will come from the latest round of industrial investment in the US (CHIPS, BIL, IRA). By ‘doing more’ we’ll be building the talent to ‘do more’. 💪
One argument for attempting to reinvigorate domestic manufacturing in chips, batteries etc is basically “insurance” against future disruptions (a la Covid, War etc). And then another is basically this. That to advance technologically, you need more people doing the doing.
