I am delighted to have been asked by

@OckReview
-my thanks to 2 v special groups of people - 1st the families for being so brave, patient & persistent. You were silenced - now you have voices. What happened to you & your babies will create a legacy of safety going forward
1. Had the most frightening wk end ever! Huge thanks Scarborough Hosp for saving my beautiful daughter Caiti, collapsed in street in Leeds, 24hrs later -CT scan at Scarbs Hosp shows massive PE - known as saddle embolus with D Dimer blood 6500. We are so lucky to have her here
Tributes must be paid to the families who have contributed to this review, without their voices this endeavour would not have taken place and their experiences have been central to identifying the actions that must be taken forward at this Trust and all maternity services.
Today on Mothers Day thinking of everyone affected by baby, child or pregnancy loss of any kind. Whilst for many it will be a day of celebration - for others it’s a day of reflection, memories & sadness. Sending love & a virtual hug - whatever your experience you are not alone ❤️
Thanks to off duty

The raw pain here is so sad. Some have criticised Chrissy for sharing an ‘inappropriate’ & ‘personal’ moment. I disagree - The more we talk about & acknowledge baby loss - the more we raise awareness & ultimately the better we support families suffering this terrible loss & pain
1/2 So delighted to hear news of the £127million funding increase for maternity & neonatal services 2day THANK YOU!! This will be a welcome boost to clinical colleagues on the ground supporting retention & safety. Looking frwd to Weds & the launch of our final

2 A huge thanks to my wonderful team of midwives & every kind of doctor involved in the delivery of safe maternity care - obstetricians, neonatologists, anaesthetists, physicians, cardiology, neurology etc. More than 90 clinical colleagues have helped safely deliver report 2 ..

Huge thanks to Dr Sean Slaght & neurology at QA Hosp for their continued care of my lovely Phoebe - despite her difficulties as she’s now 17 she is starting to make choices about her future care. Huge support at all our clinic appointments & interactions

with you all the way! - Go! Girl Go!
I have been collecting old midwifery textbooks & midwifery & maternity related items -terry nappies inc for about 30 years! LOOK 👀, what I found in a Falmouth bookshop, an old Myles 7th edition, am so pleased - one of these days …. I might put my feet up & read them- not yet !
Arrived in Cornwall, my 1st stop is my peaceful place, a tiny chapel on a beach, roses for my mum who died in Sept, usually flowers on a tiny unknown baby grave - where I’ve visited for over 20 yrs far too ☀️ for flowers so left a little cactus for ‘Baby Kernow’ Cornwall’s baby
Happy Easter everyone! Look what my lovely
@OckendenPhoebe
brought me this morning. I don’t think the hot cross buns are left over from Mothers Day. A huge achievement for Phoebe - she went to the shops & did this by herself for the 1st time since the pandemic

On a beautiful, empty beach you’ll find the peaceful ‘Church of The Storms’ a tiny fisherman’s chapel. For 20+ years I’ve visited a tiny unidentified baby grave originally with BABY painted on stones then replaced with ‘Baby Kernow’ - Cornwall’s baby - unknown but remembered ❤️
So the fab
@OckendenPhoebe
did her 1st Mother’s Day breakfast for me, 1st step: she set 2 VERY early & VERY loud alarm clocks ⏰ to wake herself up (she’s in the bedroom next to me….) & then appeared with these delights. I didn’t eat 5 hot cross buns for breakfast I promise ❤️
@Chris5anne
@JamesTitcombe
Families have repeatedly told me they want 1 thing -1 thing only - safety, a safe outcome. A family said to me that anything other than safety was a ‘pointless sprinkling of icing sugar.’ On behalf of all families ALL JDs in maternity must have SAFETY as their primary objective
A few days ‘R & R’ in fab Cornwall. Monika & Aimee - admin team from
@DOckendenLtd
who have worked tirelessly on

& are the 1st point of contact for our families calling the office came too! And of course my lovely Phoebes - who thinks it’s so cool to be with M and A!
2. Caiti brought to Scarborough as not feeling right by her best friend at Uni - her Dad is a GP - we had no idea how poorly she was - he realised & took her to A & E at Scarborough- they did rapid bloods and got a CT. I am v thankful for Eves dad & the fab staff in A & E & EAU
We welcome the Government's announcement to invest a further £3million for

One of the
@OckReview
mothers asked my team to look at the beautiful baby memorial in Quarry Park in Shrewsbury this wk, it is an arrangement of forget me not flowers & written on the base ‘In loving memory of all our precious babies, forever in our hearts.’ So very beautiful ❤️
Rest In Peace HM The Queen, you were the selfless & devoted Mother of our nation. When people across the world talked about The Queen they meant our Queen. We will miss you, for so many of us, you are all that we have ever known. We loved you & will always remember your service
The beautiful neonatal bereavement suite
@LiverpoolWomens
2day - visiting with
@CNOEngland
- also the lovely family garden cared for by staff - families so appreciate this special space. Staff told us of the importance of ‘making memories’ esp when time with a baby is so short
We also found that the Trust’s own governance procedures failed to hold the maternity service to account and that external bodies failed to monitor the care provided effectively. We have identified more than 60 Local Actions for Learning for the Trust.
Thanking everyone supporting my clinical review team all helping family & staff voices to be heard, inc

@PorthBCafe
, the candle like a flare! For some unknown reason - in full party frock with sequins - Miss Phoebes ended up in a deep sandpit!!!
Our team of independent experts examined the maternity care provided to 1,486 families over two decades at the Trust. We found that the Trust repeatedly failed to learn from clinical incidents and failed to listen to families across the years.

2days announcement on MCoC which makes v gd sense. Really glad to see this! Local services & their local leadership teams, Heads & Directors of Midwifery need to be able to make decisions that are right for their local populations & their staffing profile
3. This wk end makes you realise how quickly life can change - I drove from Shrewsbury to Scarborough to see my beautiful Caiti - 48 hrs in Scarborough Hosp with clot busters on board, another wk of injections & hopefully home - locally tomorrow- we feel so fortunate & grateful

A stormy night on Porthmeor Beach - just a few mins walk from where I’m staying in my much loved Cornwall. Wow! Watching this for just a few minutes is so lovely 😊
I’ve been visiting this unknown grave of a tiny baby for a v long time - there’s no name but originally had hand painted pebbles spelling BABY - by my last visit in Oct they’d faded too. So touched to see a new stone ‘Baby Kernow’ - Cornwall’s baby - unknown but still treasured X
I agree 100% - staff who are cared for, listened to, respected & valued will always go ‘the extra mile.’ I have found that over and over again in so many roles over many decades
3. …consultants to nurses. Everyone is so compassionate. Such a tough, uphill struggle to get dad’s pain under control, I’ve become a whizz at typing work emails with 1 hand and holding his hand with my other one. Of course that’s not the family dog on his bed! Definitely not!

was out & about today & spotted this on a bookshelf in a cafe - she asked if she could have it for her mum’s collection! ‘Oh - a new one - I remember using that one!’ I thought. But it’s really not so new! Published in 1997 - where have 25 years gone?!

The response from all of you lovely people has been incredible. We had no idea that the podcast would be this well received & still can’t quite believe that something we started in a bedroom in Essex during lockdown is now helping people across the globe.
