Love him or hate him, Jimmy Carter is a true son of Georgia and possibly one of the last truly moral men to hold the Office of the President.
He is amongst the last remnants of a Southern political era now all but gone with the wind...
It is tragic and an affront to the Boys who wore the gray and blue that the consensus of Reconciliation has ended.
We live in but a shadow of the men before us that is quickly fading away.
While this scene from Gettysburg was unscripted and pure happenstance, the director decided to leave it in as it was very believable given Lee’s reputation with the men under him. He was a respected grandfather-like figure to many.
No modern Army commander can say the same.
So apparently this “rehabilitation” involves removing a statue of William Penn from the site…of William Penn’s home…in the only area dedicated to him…in the city he founded…in the name of “inclusivity”…
This American iconoclasm has got to end.
@RyanGirdusky
President’s first 100 days are supposed to be his high point of approval. That just ended and it’s under 50%. Gonna be an interesting 4 years.
It’s literally a monument to 3000 unknown Confederate soldiers BURIED beneath it. They are saying they are doing it bc if increased vandalism, but let’s be honest, you could hire security to prevent that.
They will and ARE desecrating war graves. Sickening.
So Taliban released a pic imitating the famous American Iwo Jima Flag raising photo using their own flag and captured equipment they got from us.
There is literally no way you cannot say our involvement in Afghanistan has been a failure of massive proportions at this point.
The most aesthetically kino modern military uniforms have to be the 2003 American DCU kit for the Invasion of Iraq and the 2022 Russian EMR kit for the Invasion of Ukraine.
So apparently, John Wilkes Booth was performing in Charlestown, Virginia when John Brown was about to be executed. He bought a uniform of the Richmond Grays off a soldier to witness the execution and (supposedly) he’s pictured here top left.
It is well known that Dwight Eisenhower, Allied Commander during WWII and former President, had great admiration for Robert E. Lee’s character without considering him a traitor to the uniform or the country. He considered Lee to be one of the top Americans of the past.
Quick history: While most Italian-Americans fought for the Union during the Civil War, several Italian veterans from the Army of the Two Sicilies who had fought against Giuseppe Garibaldi in the Wars for Italian Unification once again took up arms for the Confederacy.
@DailyProgress
“Put a sign up to contextualize it. Doesn’t need to be removed”
“It should be removed and put in a museum”
“It should be melted down for a public art piece! It’s sheer existence is disgraceful!”
And people wonder why so many refuse to give any ground anymore...
“Imagery you don’t see often”
Bro the German Army has conducted the Großen Zapfenstreich for years. 1994, 1998, 2002, 2015, 2019 all come to mind, and there were even more demonstrations of it. Been a German military practice since the 16th century. Nothing surprising.
The thing I absolutely hate about the modern American Right is the obsession with moving instead of actually staying in your home state and fighting to save it. You are abandoning the fight only to move en-masse to say, the South, and completely change it culturally.
Honestly I’ve just seen some hatred on this site that goes beyond anything I’ve seen. Yeah, I hate Yankees, but I still respect them and don’t wish death upon them. Some modern Libs just wish I and every white Southerner was dead.
Also idiots saying “It’s a Confederate Memorial not the Reconciliation Memorial!”
It’s a Confederate Memorial in our National Cemetery suggested by a Union Veteran President and whose dedication was attended both vets of both sides
Yeah it’s a Reconciliation Memorial
Yeah, this is an elite stereotype, which did not include most Southern women.
It may shock you, but the Steel Magnolia that was my grandmother grew up as a “tomboy” in a rural middle-class Georgia family. She was the closest thing to GwtW’s Melanie that ever walked the Earth.
Some of you wouldn’t know the south if it came in your ass twice.
This is a southern belle, historically.
These women were not noodling catfish, driving trucks, talking like their parents were related, or hunting game.
Being a southern female is steeped in tradition and…
Whatever you do don’t look up the list of the monuments removed after last summer’s protests/riots. Honestly depressing.
This vid doesn’t even cover the entire list...
I don’t understand how people don’t see this. The South was poor (and I mean poor af) for generations after the war. Southern women scrounged up money in community efforts to build these monuments to remember their sons and husbands...
Yesterday parts of the US south experienced wetbulb temperatures up to 94F (34.5C). At these temperatures, no amount of shade or hydration can save you. Without AC, you die. And this is just the beginning.
I have never seen such a defilement of a historical artifact before. Like, the crap done to the statues was very bothersome, but this? This is just disgusting as it should be for all historians/preservationists.
The city of Mobile during "pride month" allowed for this historic piece, a cannon that defended Fort Morgan to be used as a "canvas". How on Earth could the city allow its historical artifacts to be defiled this way?
Really wish Southern politicians would push more for the restoration of the American Chestnut, or at the very least more funding for research to create a blight-resistant strain of sapling.
Doing so would be one of the greatest restorationist efforts in US History.
Yeah these people don’t wish to assimilate and simply bring their country’s problems to new shores. It’s long past time to start deportations. Just sick to do this, much less close to Armistice Day.
British man places wreaths back on a war memorial, Rochdale Cenotaph, after Palestinian activists threw the poppy wreaths on the floor and placed a Palestinian flag in their place.
I’m Presbyterian, so Catholics correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it precisely the job of an archbishop to deny Communion, including obviously many other things?
Whoopi: "The archbishop of San Francisco is calling for speaker Nancy Pelosi to be denied receiving Communion because of her pro-choice stance ... this is not your job, dude. That is not up to you to make that decision."
Another point on this issue.
This is the National Park Service. THE National Park Service. Advocating removing a statue of Pennsylvania’s Founder from a National Historic Site.
The battlefields are not safe.
The man on the left is Officer Ruben Ruiz of the Uvalde Police Department. It has now come out that the man in the video looking at his phone was infact the husband of one of the teachers who was killed during the attack on the school, Eva Mireles.
It pleases me that even in today’s world, that “Yankee” and “Carpetbagger” are continually used in the Southern business community as pejorative terms.
But they didn’t, and they lived long, happy lives until the end of their days, many of them dying peacefully in their sleep.
And that will forever be the reality of the situation, and not some twisted revenge p*rn of some retard 150 years later.
If I may brag, the South historically has basically forced people to assimilate through social culture (those who know, know), but with such high levels of migration now, that system is failing. Rather than assimilate, these migrants are redefining what a Georgian, Texan etc. is
Controversial take: There is more legal precedent to label the Founding Fathers as traitors than there is to label the Confederacy as traitors.
And this is coming from a guy who looks up to and wishes to honor both Washington and Lee.
I’m convinced Yankees only have two memes:
1. “DiD YoU kNoW ShErMaN BuRnEd AtLaNtA?!” (With the same background pic every time)
2. Something with Union Dixie in the background (which is a stupid song when there are so many other good GAR songs)
Please, be more original.

Berry Greenwood Benson was born on February 9, 1843, in Hamburg, SC, the son of Nancy Harmon and Abraham M. Benson. In 1849 Abraham Benson tried his luck in the California gold rush, and the young Benson lived for some time with his grandparents near Greenville, SC.
One under-discussed topic of the South is honestly how much our forefathers LARP’ed as the Ancients.
I mean I can go from Athens, to Rome, to Vienna all in the course of a day without leaving the State of Georgia.
Several members of this biker club, Guardians of the Children, just followed, blocked and surrounded me as I tried to approach the cemetery to meet a photographer. One member says they’re working with police: “They asked us to be here.”
Short post:
It has come to my attention that Virginia Military Institute’s board of visitors voted unanimously in September to accept Governor Glenn Youngkin’s request to house the Arlington Confederate Memorial at its Civil War museum at New Market Battlefield.

Today, 160 years ago, Georgians under the command of General McLaws, Benning, and Wright were committed to the hell of Gettysburg in places such as the Wheatfield and the Peach Orchard. May their heroism never be forgotten.
Not only did they get my boy Gary Oldman to play Truman in Oppenheimer, they recreate my favorite interaction between the President and the Father of the Atomic Bomb.
Yes, you know the one.
Furthermore, the Confederate Flag became a symbol of resistance and regional separatism in Italy, especially after World War II. Even the famous Italian actress Sophia Loren was not immune to this:
