I very much feel that colorism is not taken as seriously as it should be. What black people need to understand is, if we lose the fight against colorism, we lose, period.

They were trying to engineer a military confrontation, and stupid Trump fell not only into that trap, but every subsequent trap, each intended to close off another diplomatic off ramp. Trump is not only morally unfit for office, but too dumb for office.

The International Atomic Energy Agency verified over a dozen times that Iran was following the deal perfectly. Then Trump violated the deal, ripped it up, sanctioned them, and Biden said he would get back in the deal but didn't. This issue was solved but the warmongers demand

To be clear, Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu will be responsible for every dead American, God forbid, if Iran retaliates against US targets in the region and beyond after an unprovoked and illegal attack by the United States, encouraged by Israel. Our media should be clear:

So now Iran's missiles are a problem for the EU too. To affirm that they're a part of the problem requiring a solution - when it's clear that it would never agree to limit them - is insane. Also insane that the wishes of the country guilty of genocide is so easily accommodated.

Israel wants to be able to bomb Iran when it wants (like it does Lebanon) without having to fear Iranian missiles in response. This, at bottom, is what the present crisis is about.

Recently, Israel has been most concerned about Iran's ballistic missile program. If the US attacks Iran now, it will be because of that program: notably, every option the NYT discusses here includes targeting that program. The media engages in 'war rationale laundering' when...1/

This represents a real potential breakthrough. It means that the Trump admin may match its actions with its words: its claim that it is only concerned with preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. It abandons additional Israeli demands that have nothing to do with that goal

We are led to believe that a nuclear-armed Iran would nuke Israel at the first opportunity. That is downright silly - Iran is not a genocidal state. In any case, it would be deterred like other nuclear states. Meanwhile, in Israel the norm against the use of nukes is eroding.

So it's precisely because Israel wants more, and Trump is asking for more because Israel wants more, that they're at loggerheads over the nuclear issue. (And of course Israel still has non-nuclear, maximalist demands that Trump has also incorporated into American red lines.)

Most Americans oppose war with Iran, but I'm convinced that the opposition would be much higher still if the media would clearly explain why Trump's claimed simple demand that "Iran can't have a nuclear weapon" is untrue: a JCPOA-like inspections regime would ensure no nukes. 1/2

This war is not for Americans. It's not for Iranians. Inside or out. It's not for the left or right. This war with Iran serves one agenda - Israel. Ordinary people will bury their dead. Politicians will give speeches. Allies will call it "security." But don't confuse

This is what American voters need to understand. Trump's red line last Spring was essentially 'No nuclear weapons,' and negotiations proceeded swimmingly. But then he started listening to Netanyahu, adding various red lines that Iran rejects, now even removing sanctions relief.

To make diplomacy successful, Trump needs to return to his original red line of no nuclear weapons rather than the Israeli red lines that were designed to make talks fail and corner Trump into war. This would avoid a very costly and unpredictable war in the Middle East - the

So if Iran was being asked to meet the standards applied to every other non-nuclear power NPT-signatory in the world, everything would be fine. But Israel is paranoid, wants to dominate the region, and has the ear of Trump. And it hasn't even signed the NPT.

The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons allows countries to enrich uranium at low levels, and it has mechanisms to ensure signatories of the treaty hold to that. But because of Israel, Trump is saying that Iran must not be allowed to enrich at any level.

Here is the crazy thing that is easy to overlook: If the problem is really about Iran getting nuclear weapons, there would be no issue: IAEA inspectors could make sure Iran's nuclear program is peaceful, with 3.67 enrichment. But Israel wants more, so Trump is asking for more. 1/
