Hi @Sport_England do you have a position on Pump Tracks and Skate Parks. Are they venues for delinquency and drugs dealing? Or community assets that give young people opportunity to be social, active and outside?

There are lots of really sad things about this thread, but maybe the saddest is the reduction of trust in fellow humans that makes sealing a family off in a personal vehicle seem so necessary.
My 5yo has a new friend at school & asked me to set up a play date. I was texting with the parent & when we got to logistics the parent asked if I could pick the kid up. They live 4 blocks (under .5 mile) away & I said we’d be happy to walk over. The parent shared 1/6

Okay, I see I need to be far more specific. Given the awful junction in image A. Is there anything we can salvage at a late stage under LTN 1/20 para 6.7.4 "Coloured surfacing may be useful in the following situations: Routes through complex junctions."?

Active Travel Twitter/X. Considering the plans in image A, can you provide any similar locations where markings or inlay is used through the junction (purple in image B) to help ahead cyclists (green arrow) with respect to left-hooks (orange arrow)? Thank you.

Can we get angry now? Can we call for better, safer routes for teen cyclists yet? Can we ensure new drivers are properly vetted? Or only allowed in speed limited vehicles? Or do wait for the next death?

Sentencing was today. Young driver, twice the speed limit, over seer onto the cycle path, teenage rider "doing nothing wrong". No surprise to me having visited the location and seen the evidence markers.

When I wrote this peice I was told not to speculate about the circumstances. Wait for the official reports they said.

Rest in peace Isla. I didn’t know you, but I shed a tear visiting the location where you were killed. It is a parent’s worst nightmare to hear of the death of a child. While doing an activity I adv…

Isla's family has issued a statement. They say that Isla had done nothing wrong & had no chance when the life to which she was entitled was taken cruelly from her. They are asking for mandatory speed limiters or recorders to be considered for all vehicles. https://t.co/PHAymx37t9

Oliver Nicholls, 22, has been jailed for almost 5 years for causing death by dangerous driving. He had accelerated up to 71mph, three seconds prior to the crash that killed Isla Cochrane, 14, and was travelling around 54mph when he mounted the cycle path. https://t.co/vp4MCSezyK

Isla Cochrane was riding her bike on a cycle path when she was hit by a speeding Oliver Nicholls.

Yes get to a difficult junction, throw your hands in the air and give up. "Cyclist dismount" [we prioritise motoring here]. Did they even ask for bolder options @camcycle?

With his stanch support of private motor vehicle trips I can see no issue with @AnthonyBrowneMP appointment to Minister for Decarbonisation of Transport. Grim. https://t.co/V2yEiVukGx

He will also have responsibility for decarbonisation of transport.

Driver angry that I swore in front of his kids. Maybe don't drive so dangerously around mine? Likely deliberate. "People like you are the problem with Cambridge" and "swerving all over the road". Aka riding a bike and taking primary position at a blind bend.

Is this a mapping problem, a signage problem or an idiot problem? This is the second car I’ve seen go through the Busway car trap at Cambridge North this week & it seems to be a growing issue. It can’t be nice as a driver but it’s a pain for sustainable transport users.

@GreaterCambs Finally, there is a narrow section of Milton where separate paths are not an option. On our website, we set out a few different solutions for this, including a 'cycle street' treatment near the shops. Read more at https://t.co/c8tXmPcgQD /9

We'd also like to see separate paths on the new rural link between Milton and Waterbeach. Let's be bold and create a lovely new 'linear park' with added planting rather than squeezing leisure walkers and utility cyclists together. /7

@waterbeachcc That's why we'd like to see a separate bi-directional cycleway installed from the Jane Coston bridge to Coles Road. This would deliver a better outcome for both cyclists and pedestrians – our friends at Cambridge @livingstreets agree. /5
