Low Traffic Neighbourhoods rely for their success on the removal of through motor traffic - but what are the best ways of achieving that?

Of course, it’s more than just children who benefit from plowed and salted cycle tracks (spotted in the exact same location a few hours later).

To paraphrase Enrique Peñalosa: A plowed and salted cycle track is a symbol that a child on a $30 bicycle is equally important as an adult inside a $30,000 car.

In @wfcouncil we’re working with our volunteer #SnowAngels to get our pavements gritted & made safe for our pedestrians, we’re clearing the snow & ice from & gritting our #CycleTracks, as well as gritting our roads. @willnorman @London_Cycling @carltonreid @laura_laker @sustrans

From a trip to #Utrecht in 2019 It's remarkable that this is decidedly unremarkable to those participating in the scene I know videos of this area are common, but I'll never not be amazed 1/

Video by @BethnalCleen showing off the rebuilt Old Bethnal Green Road in East London. They’ve been working on making this road one way for cars with a protected cycle contra flow. This is part of a large area wide Low Traffic Neighbourhood. https://t.co/U3waKeVDCK

Here’s how they’re used in the Netherlands. The footway remains level, while motorists have to drive up and over the kerb https://t.co/OeKt6QD1uz

Want level footways/cycleways across driveways and minor road junctions? This kerb is going to allow it to happen easily in the UK

Dutch PM arrives (as usual) by bike. He doesn’t just cycle for the cameras (as some have suggested), it’s just how folks roll here, we regularly see him on our path when no other journos are in sight 🇳🇱

Europe’s Cycling Revolution - @annaholligan travels across Europe to see how people are getting on their bikes, and asks if the surge in cycling is the start of a much bigger change in the way we travel.

It’s worth watching this @BicycleDutch video of a new ‘fast' cycle route in the Netherlands, as it demonstrates how these routes are “just” upgrades of existing cycling infrastructure that was already of a good standard -
