Minority identity is typically used as a proxy for societal marginalization in various forms which translate to psychosocial outcomes.

I think we all need to realize our research is inherently political. It doesn't exist in a vacuum.
Possessing a minoritized identity might make us VERY careful about HOW we write, thinking ahead of potential misuse of our work bc we have seen and felt it. More of that pls

The discussion about data being available on request often assumes some nefarious intent to hide poorly done stats or something.
TBH o feel VERY concerned about making LGBTQ+ data open access to anyone bc I've seen how ppl protect conversion therapists & their cronies still
First off: Every single academic needs to read this.
Second: It has to be accepted.
Third:
@PsychScience
what will be the outcome? This is describing egregious behavior from individuals with power in your institution. What I've read in the first few pgs is deplorable.
My colleague Steven Roberts wrote abt bias in psychological science. Fast forward: a journal editor colludes w/a team of white men whose critiques include lines abt "activist thinking" & shit like "mules & hores" metaphors.

Us: We are discussing RACISM in clinical psychology.
R1: Why not feminism?!? Why not GLBT?!?! Why exclude the elderly and disabled?!? If you want to talk about fair clinical science and justice for all yal have to talk about EVERYTHING!!
Just a casual search thru PsychInfo last night turned up 17 articles in the conversion therapy camp between 1969 and 1990 with authorship by a past president of ABCT. They're all available (except 2 that I couldn't get PDFs so I guess 19 maybe).
More to come.
Airport academic thoughts:
Thanks to everyone who comes up to me to say I'm "bold" and "outspoken" as compliments.
I'm concerned how often my colleagues get the exact same labels in derogatory senses, especially when they're women in science.

Dear Dr.

, what're your plans for retracting harmful articles that you have published?
As an example see this paper below where you juxtapose pedophilia & homosexual attraction among other things.
Statement without action is worthless.
I strongly support the public apology made by ABCT on behalf of the CBT tradition for the involvement of the field in conversation therapy. More needs to be said personally though. I have posted my personal apology here
Just a reminder (to myself than any of you really):
Some days you're super productive (in a pandemic sense), and then there are days where you get through 1 R tutorial and 1 full season of Golden Girls. And that's it.

I paraphrased a bit above b/c we have character limits here. But really yal ... it was worse than I could ever explain here!
FWIW very possible the AE disregarded the blatant racism of R1. This thread isn't about them. It's about the shockingly unhinged, racist review.
"...clinical scienceโs failure to include macrosystem-level influences & systems of privilege & oppression in lieu of bio & microsystem-level contributors has significantly restricted ability to effectively address the types of โwicked problemsโ that undergird human suffering..."

Succinct, to the point, hitting how the BPD dx is stigmatized (the viewpoint they provide is exactly the reason I got into studying "bias").
