The Matrix described 1999 as the peak of human civilization and I laughed because that would obviously not age well but then the next 23 years happened and now I’m like yeah okay maybe the machines had a point

To me this strikes deep. One of my core fears due to trauma is abandonment. Thus I feel distance in a relationship deeper than I probably should. (I'm working on it!) So this really does ring true to me.

One of the most damaging lies we are told is that we should know how to make friends, and how to be a friend. Bullshit. That is a skill that you learn, not one that you are born with. Knowing how to be a good friend is HARD. And it takes practice and effort.
