250 years ago, in Philadelphia, the United States Navy was born. On October 13th, 1775, the Continental Congress met in Independence Hall and created the Navy that would defend our new nation. I am grateful to all the brave sailors who have protected our nation for 250 years.

My position is clear: I will not allow Republicans to raise health care costs and slash coverage for millions of Americans while they give billionaires even bigger tax breaks. I work for the hardworking people of Pennsylvania, NOT the ultra-rich.

America's civil servants had nothing to do with the Republicans' government shutdown. Trump doesn't care. He's using the shutdown he caused to attack our neighbors' livelihoods and gut critical services. That's why he told Republicans not to negotiate. He wanted this all along.

World Mental Health Day is a good time to recognize that not all struggles are visible — which is why I'll keep working to improve access to mental health care. Let's remember to take care of ourselves and reach out to others when we need help. You are never alone.
