But she clearly hasn’t read hamlet or at the very least she doesn’t understand it. All her literary “references” are baffling because they mostly have nothing to do with the actual character and everything to do with whatever she’s decided it means.

It’s a real mark of our flailing educational standards of the last 20 years where taylor swift is considered notably educated for making a reference to Hamlet, which is something you ideally read around the 10th grade

I would almost guarantee no one checks her on her lyrics. Since she was a child the entire universe has been gasing up her writing and she believes them even though her writing has gotten steadily worse.

The reason Taylor will never be a good writer is because she doesn’t actually know what anything means beyond her own definition. She doesn’t tie her songs in lyrically or musically because she’s not talking about “showgirls” she’s talking about herself: a girl who does shows.

Proving her point by writing the most dull lyric of all time about coke was a choice, alternate: “I’ve heard you call me, ‘Boring Barbie’ when you’re skiing through LA”. She’s such a bad writer.

She is legitimately a bad writer. I feel so vindicated.

I would argue it’d much darker than that. For him, politics is a game, it is not real. The consequences of political actions do not affect him and so they are nothing more than studies and hypotheticals to him. There is no right or wrong in his game, only winning and being loud.
