Winter weather impacts culverts, and it's important to know when you're responsible for the maintenance of one. The graphic below illustrates which culverts are which. Proper care helps prevent flooding. Just another way to #ShiftIntoWinter ❄️ @TranBC: https://t.co/7ndNLnvHQt

Environment Canada has now posted the first Weather Statements about this storm for #VancouverIsland. Tropical Storm force winds seem likely, maybe higher. Tues/Wed. Read the below thread. #bcstorm @CHEK_News
Forecast models are in fair agreement regarding explosive cyclogenesis of a storm off the WA coast Tues PM. While the central pressure near 940mb is very impressive, the coinciding strong high ~1040mb over NWT results in a pressure gradient of 100mb!! #BCwx

Fish in the forest, seaweed in trees? 12 years ago tonight the M7.8 #HaidaGwaii earthquake generated the world's largest #tsunami of 2012. Runup to 13m in some inlets left seaweed in trees + fish in the forest. If you are near water and feel long+strong shaking, go to high ground

12 years ago today (at 8:04 p.m.) a M7.8 earthquake rocked #HaidaGwaii. This offshore #earthquake was felt to more than 1000 km distance, caused strong shaking, landslides, a #tsunami and was followed by 1000's of aftershocks. https://t.co/2VejOpAuY2

Heat can be a serious health risk for seniors, children and people living with chronic conditions like mental illness. Indoor heat can be especially dangerous if you don’t have access to a cool indoor environment. Find a cooling centre near you https://t.co/fgQINWryNU

Prolonged heat upcoming. This is different from the excessive heat that morphed start of summer 2021 into an Extreme Heat Emergency (EHE). Still, BC, let’s look out for one another & stay hydrated & cool, & heed the health sector Call-to-Actions found in our ECCC alerts. #BCWx
