Outflow winds through the BC coastal inlets could reach hurricane force winds (>118 km/h) while waves off WA & OR could reach 8-9 metres (26-29 ft). #ORwx #WAwx.

Forecast models are in fair agreement regarding explosive cyclogenesis of a storm off the WA coast Tues PM. While the central pressure near 940mb is very impressive, the coinciding strong high ~1040mb over NWT results in a pressure gradient of 100mb!!. #BCwx

One of two large fires burning in Van right now. Grey plume indicates heavy water being applied which is great.

Following 14 days with max temps >30C, #NelsonBC is getting peppered with lightning. Not surprisingly, 7 new #BCwildfire in the past hour. Happy to water bombers already working their magic.

Wicked line of thunderstorms pushing through Kootenay Lake right now, making for a rather frightful & interrupted camp out at Kokanee Creek Prov Park. Winds sound like a freight train, camping gear got thrown around on what was expected to be a calm, warm night. #BCwx #BCstorm
