You could make a case ( I wouldn’t) for abolishing the women’s category in a competitive sport, opening it to all humans. But there is no case for a separate women’s category if men such as Lia Thomas & Imane Khelif are allowed to gatecrash it. You cannot have it both ways.

I wish the Central Statistics Office, Ireland @CSOIreland provided comprehensive straightforward reports on religion - like they used to - as well as, or even instead of, the ‘interactive tables’ that, tbh, absolutely wreck my head. Now, for me, it’s a complicated mess.

The content from Sudan in my feed is horrific. A conflict that's mostly absent from radio news bulletins and the home pages of many Irish print media.
World Health Organization Director-General Ghebreyesus says he is "deeply shocked by reports of the tragic killing of more than 460 patients and companions at Saudi Maternity Hospital in el-Fasher, Sudan, following recent attacks and the abduction of health workers."

It's a common pattern in the history of religious conservatives, developing a preoccupation with adolescent gender and sexuality. There's a degree of prurience involved.

How would people react to a religious cult that advocated for children’s puberty to be halted by medicalisation, for teenagers and young adults to have their healthy sexual organs chopped off, for women to give up their women-only spaces to men?

Discipline is a bad word in our culture. People associate it with having to do what they're told. But discipline is quite a lovely word. It comes from the same root as 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘦 and it means seeing yourself through the eyes of the teacher who loves you.~Marion Woodman

My favourite band since the mid-90s. Their Olympia gig in Dublin. Radiohead. And they tolerate difference of opinion when increasing intolerance, radicalisation and polarisation is on trend. I love them more than ever:
The Radiohead interview in today's Sunday Times is genuinely heartening. They clearly have principled political differences over playing in Israel but everyone involved just . . . sounds like a grown-up.
