The day before I met Preston Manning at an airport. We were both flying to Calgary. “I thought you’d be flying to the Capital,” he observed. “Mr Manning, Calgary now IS the Capital “ I replied. He laughed heartily.
Remembering twenty years ago, getting on the plane in Calgary with the next prime minister, bound for Ottawa. Happy, proud, anxious. Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few days and remembering Doug, Bruce, Paul.

“This is going to allow us to reinvest or bring back financial monies from the acquisition back home to the community for any future developments, health-care systems, transportation, housing — not only for on-reserve members, but for off-reserve,” Ominika said.

Prime Minister, After nearly a year in office, it's time to move from rhetoric to results. To make Canada affordable & autonomous, safe & self-reliant.

BC should be leading the world in natural resources. Instead, the NDP have driven away investment and thousands of jobs. In Prince George, families see the damage firsthand, David Eby’s government is a disaster. ✍️ Sign to defeat the NDP: https://t.co/dSGPsqcV0b

Sorry to break it to you, Mr. Carney: people can’t eat speeches. They need affordable grocery prices—and Canada’s are rising the fastest in the G7, so you can’t blame it on global causes. End the hidden grocery taxes. Stop printing money.
BREAKING: New data shows Canada has the highest food price inflation in the G7. That is the cost of Carney. Canada: 6.2% Japan: 5.1% United Kingdom: 4.5% United States: 3.1% Italy: 2.3% France: 1.7% Germany: 1.4%

This is much better: constructive, forward-looking, nuanced — what an opposition leader should sound like. And sets up a good and necessary debate: how far should we continue to rely on the US market, given Donald Trump’s readiness to weaponize our dependence against us, and how

Lol I called it — @RobertFife compared Carney to Churchill tonight on Power & Politics.
On a political panel tonight someone will act as though Mark Carney just won a majority government, or they'll compare him to JFK or Churchill or something ridiculous. Watch for it.

Mr. Fulmer has been defining himself as a conservative unchallenged for weeks while actively scrubbing pro-UNDRIP, essay-length land acknowledgements from his website. A self-avowed centrist completely at odds with the B.C. Conservative base.
I didn't wait for BC United to implode before putting my name on a ballot as a Conservative. I'm running in this leadership race as a Conservative because I ran in the general election as a Conservative. I am a proud BC Conservative. We welcome people into our movement, but

“That is why Conservatives proposed the Canadian Sovereignty Act. It is a detailed plan to unlock Canada’s potential and make our country more affordable, self-reliant, and sovereign. It aims to bring home the half-trillion dollars of investment that has left for the U.S. over
“This Liberal government created these laws and obstacles, and almost a year after taking office, Mr. Carney has not removed a single law or bureaucracy. Or approved a single pipeline. Or removed the industrial carbon tax, which drives food and housing costs up and industry out.

If all you've got on any given subject is condescension, jokes and no real analysis or thoughtfulness well, you're not really offering anything are you?
Two Ottawa thoughts today: 1. If you’re looking to online comments as an indicator of party member or public sentiment you are misguided and lazy. 2. There’s a tendency to be derisive and dismissive of everything—to make jokes instead of actually engaging. Try harder.
