ALBERTA-OTTAWA MOU: There's a lot of wins @ABDanielleSmith can point to here. To name a few — the end of the emissions cap, the end of the CER net-zero by 2035 plan (Smith successfully fought this in 2024, now it's gone entirely), suspending the tanker ban. It's not perfect, but

ALL MOU ALL DAY: Pierre & @JustinTrudeau both brought in anti-energy policies that alienated Western Canada. Mulroney temporarily quelled western alienation by scrapping the NEP. Does the Alberta-Ottawa MOU achieve a similar result? #cdnpoli #ableg

The 2025 Liberal voter coalition is much different than the 2015 Liberal voter coalition. If Steven Guilbeault is representative of a left-wing voter who feels abandoned by @MarkJCarney's policies, where would they go next? #cdnpoli

Liberals thought they were getting a more left-wing version of @MarkJCarney. @s_guilbeault was a @JustinTrudeau minister & he's left cabinet over the Alberta-Ottawa MOU. There's still tons of Trudeau-era anti-pipeline ministers in Carney's cabinet. Who's next to go? #cdnpoli

Two things can be (and in politics usually are) true: 1. Given the circumstances (i.e., a Liberal government), Smith and her team have extracted a good deal from Ottawa. 2. Had the CPC won, actual changes to anti-growth laws (not just conditional exemptions) and respect for

There are things I like about living in Ottawa but let’s be realistic about the state of the place.
A few counterpoints: Byward Market, Bank Street, Chinatown. A not-insignificant chunk of Ottawa’s downtown is boarded-up storefronts, vagrants & addicts, public hard-drug use, people smoking meth in broad daylight. Is that world class? Does anyone care?

Here's what I've written in response to @Sean_Speer: There’s been a major conversation going on between the old and new guard of Canadian conservatism. It’s been enlightening and useful for conservatives as we move forward. I've really enjoyed it. I consider myself a

I agree with @Sean_Speer that conservative governments should reverse progressive excesses within public institutions, but what do we do in the meantime? You can find my answers at @WDiminishment. #cdnpoli

Here's my latest at @WDiminishment: "The speed of federal reform is glacial at best. If we [conservatives] don’t participate and involve ourselves in Canada’s institutions, how can we possibly reform them?" #cdnpoli

The new right is the future of Canada. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 @Anthony__Koch explains the vision perfectly.
My latest today in the National Post: Pierre Elliott Trudeau remade Canada and constitutionalized his revolution. Conservatives cannot defeat charter liberalism with tax credits. It's time for a little more vision, and a lot more boldness. https://t.co/XB2rqBMpEz

I think we’ve gotta try. What else is there? We can’t just give up.
@colewhogan @Sean_Speer Do you actually believe that the state can be reformed from within? The state and the bureaucracy that serves it (and its union leadership) has no interest in being reformed from within…
