I’m trying to think of a public institution dedicated to preserving Canadian history and heritage. The Calgary Military Museums. Any others?.
If you work for any public institution dedicated to the preservation of Canadian heritage and history, you should be commited to preserving Canada's heritage and history. If the people that work for this Board don't believe in this, then time for them to be replaced.

Isn’t the simple solution to impose $100 million in taxes on the tickets for each game? If the stadium seats 100,000, each ticket takes a $1,000 tax.
"The price tag for Vancouver to host seven games of the 2026 Men's World cup has ballooned again.". "The province now estimating it will cost taxpayers between $532 million and $642 million.". "That's an eye watering amount of money." Carson Binda of the Canadian Taxpayers

I have often argued the opposite. Saving the money is an expression of pessimism about Alberta.
Here’s the deal. Everyone says - correctly - that Alberta should be building its savings to create a fiscal resource to replace energy revenue some day. But the moment it does so, people wade in with this short termism.

People are the most strategic asset we have, but oil and gas are both up there with potash and uranium.

The real scandal was not sourcing the tables from Black Forest Wood Co. on Barlow Trail. They do work for customers around the world.
NEW FROM ME: The world’s leaders were elbows-down on some pretty pricey furniture during the G7. According to info contained in proactive disclosures, that big round table the leaders sat around — crafted by a furniture maker in Calgary — cost $258K.

It is well researched, well documented, well written and cathartic to read.
Just on page 4 of @TristinHopper amazing book Don’t Be Canada and I’ve already said Holy. Shit. Roughly 383937374738 times. As an American with Canadian PR, I’m more shocked than I should be.

Canadians enjoying the free use of their money to buy important health services irritates those who cannot supply them at no cost.
This Canadian-owned MRI clinic in Buffalo says business is booming. Canadians are spending hundreds or thousands of dollars for MRIs in the U.S., contributing to what some experts decry as a two-tiered health system.

This is great. Should be in POLI sci textbooks.
Correspondence to an MP. Just want to highlight a few things & give some clarity to folks about it. I welcome feedback & happy to try to answer any questions folks have about day-to-day life on the Hill. Small 🧵 on sending emails to MPs👇. First point about correspondence:

I also hope #ARCEnergyIdeas has a big party for the first LNG shipment from Canada.
Mark Maki, CEO of @TransMtn, joins @JackieForrest and me on this #ARCEnergyIdeas. We discuss the pipeline’s effect on Canadian oil prices, the government’s plans to sell it, the potential for a northern leg, Bill C-5 and lots more. .#EnergyTwitter.
