Publication day :-) We are so happy to see this out in the world! (Interviewees: you’ll be receiving information very shortly about how to get your free copy). It was such a privilege to hear all these stories from so many women - this book is for them.

Coalfield women support the UCU strike (obviously!) and also think that if people managed to stay out for a *whole year* during the miners' strike, most lecturers probably can afford to go on strike for 10 days tbh

Just had the best 2 days @XPschool talking with the year 7s all about the miners' strike in Doncaster - so impressed with how engaged and enthusiastic the students were! Thank you to @Hannamanam for organising it, and all the XP staff for all their help.

We've a question for everyone who went to the soup kitchens during the strike! Do you think most people who went for meals were striking miners+ kids, or did lots of women go too? We know lots of activist women ran the kitchens and ate at them. But what about non-activist women?

There is a UCL Teacher Masterclass on Tuesday at 6pm. Looking at how historians and teachers have collaborated on bringing women's voices from the miners' strike into the classroom. Loved working with @sadhistorygeek and @TIJenner on this. Sign up here: https://t.co/MUF8RGSg6i

We’re very sad to hear of the death of Hywel Francis. He gave us some really useful information about the strike in S Wales when we were interviewing his wife Mair for the project,+ by all accounts was a lovely man. Our thoughts are with Mair + his family.

We’d love to see what the women who put food parcels together during the strike could do with 30 quid to feed a family!

#FreeSchoolMeals On the left £30 of food. On the right what private company Chartwells have supplied having been awarded a government contract to supply for £30 free school meals. Utterly shameful profiteering off some of the country's most disadvantaged kids!

An explosion at Oaks Colliery, Barnsley, killed 383 men and boys #OnThisDay in 1866 – the worst pit disaster in English history. A strike 2 years earlier for safer conditions was broken by the use of scab labour and evictions. 169 unrecovered bodies remain entombed at the site
