If XC is added to the Winter Olympics and is packaged correctly (as a TEAM sport), it will blow people's minds.
Cross country is the best because it introduces uncertainty... It takes the best of a variety of events, from 1500 to marathon and puts them on the same course with lots of chaos. You can't watch a loaded USAs and not want XC in the Olympics. It would be perfect entertainment

The frequency, density or quality of race-specific work should increase as the season progresses. 🍞However, there should be breadcrumbs of specific work (the end goal) even in the first weeks of training.

With access to leftovers I am at 21 cigs rn.
Ave thanksgiving meal is = to smoking 7 cigarettes. Why and how to avoid... Average + 4,500 calories across day + 229 g fat + 69 g saturated fat + 450–600 g carbs + 150–200 g sugar (pies, rolls, alcohol...) + 3,000–4,500 mg sodium The damage: + massive glucose spikes +

FYI: I created a 10 day video course to explain the science of training. Everything from Lactate Threshold, Zone 2, Intervals, and what it actually means in your training. All for free. Check it out:

With the holidays coming up, I wanted to put together a simple list of gifts I genuinely love—things I use, things our HAX coaches swear by, and things any runner would be excited to unwrap. Check it out:

Another off-season thought as I put together the 2026 T/F training plan. Fartlek training is such a good tool.

@CoachDistance I probably lean on this more than anything else. It's far easier for the majority of kids to understand. Definitely easier for newer kids. You can run by feel, and the group can help each other out...

@CoachDistance Extremely versatile, progress it up or down, low entry for beginners, no equipment needed (use landmarks if you don’t have a watch). Win, win, win!
