I’m excited to announce that I have been offered and accepted a job as assistant basketball coach at my alma mater, Springfield College!

In my 25 years, the game of basketball has given me my best friends, my greatest mentors, some of my most cherished moments, an education and now a job working at the birthplace of basketball. I am forever indebted to the game of basketball. Thank you James Naismith.
Have been incredibly lucky to get my degree at such a wonderful place and to learn under such great professionals like
@CoachBrock41
and
@Coach_Mac_12
! And beyond thankful for all the great people I’ve met and memories I’ve made. Excited for my next chapter!
Please join us as we thank Coach Sean Martin and Coach Chris King for all they added to this program. They are truly first class. Good luck in all your future endeavors!
I’m so excited to be starting an AAU Program called One Dream Basketball this spring. Below is a fundraiser for some kids who might need help to cover the cost of playing. If possible, please support our kids and help them have an amazing season.
Excited to announce that I will be head coach of the AA Boys’ Basketball team at Springfield Commonwealth Academy this season! Time to get to work!
@Coachjoan
@SpfldComAcademy
According to the NCAA’s database, there are only 15 female assistant coaches in Men’s College Basketball. 0 female head coaches. There are 461 male head coaches in Women’s College Basketball. The inequality is ridiculous. Something needs to change.
I'm flattered, humbled, and honored to be named the 2021 Western Massachusetts Boys Basketball Coach of the Year.
Thank you,
@masslivehs
for the recognition - I am so blessed!
He tries to keep it a secret, but Coach is one of the most kind-hearted men I know and I’m forever grateful I was able to learn about life and basketball from such a good man.
Mark my words this man will become a star basketball coach one day. Super intelligent basketball mind and an even better person. Can’t wait to watch it unfold.
Excited to welcome back 2019’s Pete Kapanides (
@pikap314
) recently graduating from Springfield College to our coaching staff! Pete most recently coming off a solid collegiate basketball career, following a standout playing career at Bedford HS
This is what coaching is all about. Not the wins and the losses or the quality of basketball. But the impact you have on your players. Get 12 guys who would run through a wall for you and you’ll have a great chance at being successful.
Texas State interim head coach Terrence Johnson couldn’t be on the sidelines when his team clinched the Sun Belt title due to COVID protocols.
So he drove to the gym. And the team found him. This is awesome.
HIRE THAT MAN!!!
My brother
@ByJayKing
is the man who taught me exactly what hard work truly is in his pursuit of being a sportswriter. He’s currently in the locker room covering an nba championship celebration. No one deserves it more.
Excited to announce the hiring of Michael McClendon as the 15th Head Coach of the Springfield College Mens Basketball team! Welcome to the Birthplace Coach McClendon!
Antonio Brown literally quit on Tom Brady in the middle of a game
I absolutely didn’t expect this reaction of immediate sympathy
who knows what AB is going thru but credit to Brady, this level of empathy & humanity in the moment is impressive
Had the incredible opportunity to interview Coach
@Naomi_Graves_
of
@SCWBB
about how she got into coaching, why she still enjoys coaching 30 years later, and some obstacles that women in coaching collegiate basketball face.
I’m in men’s leagues with guys I hooped with in 3rd grade. Basketball has brought me many things and took me to many places, but my greatest joy is the love I share with the guys I have played with and coached.
Congrats my guy!!! Good people aren’t handed opportunities they create them. Your hard work is what got you this one! Know you will do a great job over there.
I’m really excited to announce I will be joining Tod Murphy’s staff over at Gordon College!! Cannot wait to hit the ground running this week on the recruiting trail
Every player should strive to have Steph currys skill set. But the easiest way to earn playing time is learning from draymond. Know the offense in and out from all 5 positions. Make the extra pass. Never miss a defensive rotation. Knowledge and effort will earn you a role.
“I used to pray for success. Now I pray to be worthy of success.” The great thing I’ve learned as a coach is to control what you can control and work to better yourself everyday. It’s the only thing I can ask for of my players and the only thing I can demand of myself.
Never met someone who deserved this award more than
@Tyler_the_T
. He treats basketball like a 9-5 job. Always in the gym, always getting better. Proud of you brotha.
“No person has been more important and impactful to my life, outside of family, than Coach K.” That’s why I got into coaching. There’s no greater joy than forming that connection and bond with your players. I hope I have half that impact on one players life.
After a great visit, I am excited to announce I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Franklin Pierce University! Thank you to my coaches, friends and family for helping me throughout this process. Excited to get to work!

Not everyday you get to dap up D Wade, Paul Pierce, Gary Payton, Doc Rivers, Dr J, Gabby Union and many more. So happy for our players to be able to enjoy this experience

I know the season didn’t end as he had hoped, but very proud of my guy
@Tyler_the_T
. I remember when he was the 7th grader who never left the park from sun up to sun down. That work ethic is paying off. So happy for you.
P.S. you still can’t guard me haha.
AAU has no rules anymore. As a coach, I understand the fear of having your committed player playing aau. But I can’t blame the kids. As a grown man I still wish I could go out there and hoop, so I understand players wanting to. People who love playing ball, love playing ball.
I’d politely disagree. I think most all live period players want to play college basketball. They are just young kids who don’t know exactly what it takes. It’s on us coaches to show them the discipline, hard work and maturity it takes to go where they want to be.
Based on what I saw with my own eyes this past live period weekend…
Im estimating that less than 25% of the players I saw actually want to play college basketball.
Excited to announce that I've joined the Temple Men's Basketball program as a graduate assistant while I pursue a Master of Science in Sport Business. Grateful for the opportunity!
Seen a lot of people talk about Miami vs the Celtics being a case where one team is hot from 3 and the other is cold. Call me crazy but I don’t believe in team 3 point variability. When your team gets good shots, you normally shoot well. When you don’t, you shoot poorly.
A good coach always knows to exhaust his players before racing them😂😂😂. Thank you so much for swinging by. My guys got a lot better- it’s always good to watch and learn from a collegiate player and coach like yourself.
#onedream
Learned a lot watching
@CoachChrisKing1
run a practice last night! Was most impressed when he turned on the jets and toasted his team in a sprint.
#speed
I see that POV for sure! Do think aau is about more than just exposure. Get to play the game you love with ppl who become your brothers over a 4 month period because of how much time you spend with each other. I understand the allure for players who don’t need exposure.
I think it’s on the kids as much as the adults when we’re talking signed seniors playing aau. You’re 18 or 19 years old. If you can’t realize that playing in an exposure event when you don’t need exposure, then you missed the whole point of grassroots hoops
Completely agree with you! That’s why I think AAU needs more rules/a more sound governing body. My point was that if the opportunity presents itself, the players are never going to say no and I can’t blame them. Needs to start with the adults and rule setting.
@CoachChrisKing1
Wasn’t even thinking of poaching, mostly injuries. Also:
- people who love ball can join a men’s league to get better
- taking opportunities away from your aau teammates
- all the kids you played for years aren’t playing anymore
End of the day this is hurting youth basketball
Quick update. With a team canceling out of the Naismith tournament, tough to get 2 games with a 3 team format. Schedule as follows:
12/30- Bates v RWU-3:00
12/31- SC v RDU-3:00
1/1- SC v Bates-2:00
Kudos to SC Athletics for working out.
Happy Holidays to all 🎅
It is amazing the impact Coach Witter has had on so many different people he has coached and taught. That is the best measure of how amazing a person and coach he is. Please pray for my brother’s father in his fight with cancer.

"Look at our starting lineup. Edmond Sumner, Royce O'Neale, Joe Harris, [Nic] Claxton and me. It's not disrespect, but what are you expecting from that group? You expect us to win because I'm out there."

I am excited to announce that I have accepted a new position as the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities & Event Operations with Wesleyan Athletics. Thank you to everyone who has made this opportunity possible. I'm excited to get started!
Rags on kids for “bragging” about offers but doesn’t have the common decency to tell them their offers are no longer on the table. I can tell you now which actions shows a greater lack of character and respect.
In 5th grade, my mom told me “if you want to learn a thing about coaching, listen 2 Coach Dubuc’s huddles.” We spent that day behind his St.Pats bench listening to him give concise instruction, love, and demand nothing less than max effort for 32 mins. South Hadley royalty.
Check out my sophomore year highlights. Very grateful to have spent it with teammates and coaches.

Late in the game, Al Horford screens for Tatum so that he could try to get 50. Tatum shakes his head no, and then tells Kyle Lowry "I already got a 50"

Hey coach- happy New Years. I would love to talk to you about Karim as both a player and a person. Feel free to direct message me on here whenever you get a chance
For those who didn't know before, Anything is Poddable has run its course. We have a new podcast now, which is pretty much the old show by a new name:
Still Poddable. The first episode is here on Patreon breaking down the Jrue Holiday acquisition:
@amado_nate
hey Nate- we love your game and would be really interested in getting to talk to you on the phone about our program and how you might fit in.
In 1991 Magic Johnson announced he had HIV. He was constantly ridiculed because people thought he was gay or had loose sexual morals. Charles Barkley wore Magic’s number this year despite this backlash because he wanted to support his friend. That’s courage. That’s love.
In 1991, Charles Barkley decided to change jersey numbers as a tribute to Magic who had recently retired. A firestorm ensued when 76ers fans hit the radio call-in lines to criticize him for having Billy Cunningham's retired number "pulled down".
This was Chuck's response:
