Context matters: out of 550,000 NCAA college athletes, only 12 have obtained injunctions to extend their eligibility (0.00218%). Despite the NCAA’s hand-wringing, 12 players isn’t a crisis that will “ruin college sports.”

Updated numbers on the NCAA’s eligibility legal battles: - 74 cases filed - 34 NCAA injunction wins (does not include 14 voluntarily dismissed) - 12 athlete injunction wins - 14 still pending in lower courts

Common NIL complaint: these “kids” aren’t ready to handle. @dhurley15: “NIL for the players is awesome. Our players made a lot of money this year and their commitment level was to the max, so the money didn’t make them lazy or hard to coach.” 🤔

If you believe that judges and lawyers should follow the law, you can’t say that they’ve ruined college sports. If you want to blame someone, blame the members of Congress who passed the Sherman Act and the state legislators who passed laws to give their school an advantage.

@TweetsbyCoachP This is correct. The courts have ruined college sports as much as the NCAA. Both culpable.

Almost 3x NCAA wins vs. losses in eligibility cases - even if you don’t include the 14 voluntary dismissals. So much for the NCAA’s “the sky is falling” pitch.

New NCAA proposal on eligibility reminds me of that iconic movie line in “Sweet Home Alabama”: What is it about [the NCAA]? You can’t make the right decision 'til you made all the wrong ones."

The NCAA is exploring a significant change to its eligibility rule, sources tell @YahooSports. The proposal creates an age-based standard: Athletes would have 5 years of eligibility from their 19th birthday or HS graduation. No redshirts or waivers. https://t.co/8QEC4GNvZe

As @JayBilas correctly points out, there’s a lot of hypocrisy in college athletics right now. It’s only when athletes begin to get paid that it’s necessary to have a federal law to “save college sports.”

Attorney @TomMarsLaw to @FOS on the enforceability of Trump's EO: "That sounds like a worthy goal. But an executive order like that would be no more enforceable than Nick Saban scribbling that new rule on a yellow legal pad and then signing his name."

Some worthy goals in the college sports Executive Order. However, almost all the “solutions”are illegal and/or meaningless as written. If I belonged to the Sports Lawyers Association, I’d suggest sending a thank you note and a gift basket to the White House.

A great piece on the magical run by @EmoryBasketball. So many great stories, unbelievable moments, including a Braylon Mullins-level 3 pointer by my guy Ben Pearce to get Emory to the FF and now a chance at the D3 championship! 🦅
