The quickest way to get a coach to trust you is by proving yourself everyday in practice.. and that means every single day. Trust isn’t built in a day, it’s built through consistency day in & day out. Every practice & workout should be a proving ground - it doesn’t matter if

Try hard. Care deeply. Put yourself out there. Don’t be scared of coming up short, it’s how you grow. Be patient. Realize good things tend to take time. Never sacrifice your health. Walk. Run. Lift. Swim. Dance. Cycle. Depression hates a moving target. Ask for help. Help others

It’s far more impressive to be better than your former self than to be better than other people. Competing with others is easy; you just need ego. Competing with your old self takes awareness, humility, and patience. And it actually changes your life.

I asked Michigan State coach Tom Izzo what it means to him that so many of his peers told us in this year's Candid Coaches series that if their sons were players they'd want them to spend four years with him. I thought his response was great.

The best players always RESPOND instead of REACT! Respond: poised, purposeful, never rattled, expected React: emotional, unprepared, inconsistent, fazed

The worst mistakes in life are made when you try to do fast what’s meant to be done slow. Real, durable things take a long time to build. Careers. Businesses. Relationships. Health. There are no hacks. There are no shortcuts. The long way is the right way.

"You don’t get to pick the circumstances. The only think you get to pick is how you respond. That’s coaching. That’s leadership. Control the controllables. Own your response. That’s where your power is." Joe Mazzula

You can teach what toughness is and talk about it - but if you don’t possess it, then you won’t be able to instill it. Toughness is showing up day by day willing to take punches, listen to the truth, work on the things you don’t feel like and then doing it again and again!!!

I keep coming back to this question: Are you willing to sprint when the distance is unknown? In 2021, Georgia Tech strength coach Lewis Caralla delivered this epic speech to the football team. If it doesn’t light a fire under you, check your pulse… He starts with a series of

Breakthrough isn't about a single moment or experience. It's about showing up in thousands of little, seemingly insignificant moments that resulted in you being able to have the breakthrough moment. Keep showing up. šŸŖµšŸŖ“

Whenever someone watches a GREAT PLAYER train, the common response is always: "I can't believe how simple their workout is." You know what isn't simple? That player's WILLINGNESS to do the HARD, BORING, TEDIOUS, UNCOMFORTABLE THINGS day after day when no one was watching!
