A beautiful ceremony in Croke Park. Thanks to all involved @officialgaa #B100dySunday
'In 90 seconds, 14 people lay dead and mortally wounded on the field and banks of Croke Park and on the streets outside. Tonight, 100 years on, we pause to remember them all: the 14 who went to a match, and never came home.' #B100dySunday

Healthy soil cannot be underestimated. 95% of the food we eat comes from our soil. Healthy soil is biodiversity rich, fertile and productive. Soil underpins our very existence, and we must protect and enhance the biodiversity within. #WorldSoilDay #SoilHealth #Biodiversity #Life

So 1/3 of international shipping emissions can be reduced by eliminating fossil fuel imports? Good.
"A third of the cargo miles hauled by shippers comes from moving fossil fuels around the globe, and 70% of that portion is oil, BNEF estimates." https://t.co/wjIEZmuLJy

Soils are important for all life providing food, as plants & animals grow and develop from the nutrients they contain. But, there are less obvious functions of soil. @AoifeDuff2 Teagasc Soils Researcher details these here https://t.co/L5cxo8Jg8O

Wowsers. I had the privilege of seeing these beauties in Southern California waters years ago but here they are off the west coast of Ireland. The CA guide told us you could park a Volkswagon Beetle on their tongue. Typical car-laden CA analogy!
Here is something to lift the spirits heading into the weekend. Two Blue Whales photographed by the Irish Air Corps off the west coast of Ireland as part of @IWDG Whalelog. What magnificent creatures! Photo: Courtesy Irish Air Corps @IrishAirCorps

Fabulous thread from Andrew, as per usual. We've a good start, much more to do. Also important to recognise where change has come from - to welcome community action, access to justice and trade union work on just transition.

Did you know that a healthy population of earwigs can kill as many aphids as three rounds of insecticide spray? Put down the chemicals and garden naturally. #ActionForInsects 📸 Malcolm Storey

Ireland’s greenhouse gas emissions decreased by approx. 4.5 per cent in 2019. This is the largest annual reduction in emissions since 2011 but #Ireland is still not on the road needed to meet future targets & a climate neutral economy: https://t.co/6qmh51g9jc
