Therapists were busy on Ward 31 today, clearing out their gym space to optimise the space! Also all in preparation towards meeting the guidelines of increasing intensity of stroke rehab!. Exciting times ahead lots of ideas and planning 🙌. Look at these 'before' & 'after' pics!

Questions for other stroke rehab units - we are trying to create 'Upper limb' boxes to be able to provide to patient to increase intensity of therapy. Does anyone already do this? .Whats most important items in box? How do you screen patients suitable? Do you use GRASP?.

Week 3, celebrating 'Stroke Awareness Month' 💜🧠. Today our therapists did an exercise challenge with some of our stroke patients, to promote the importance cardiorespiratory endurance and muscle strengthening after stroke! 🏋🏼♀️. It was great fun! 🙌☺️. *photo shared with consent*

@PhysioLouiseJ any ideas for screening tools? Training for therapists for prescribing exercise as some lack confidence? Outcome measures?.

Question for other stroke rehab units in UK/Ireland:.how do you implement cardiorespiratory fitness to your stroke patients? Do you do any group therapy for this? Screening tools? Outcome measures?. Big push for this based on the new and updated National Stroke guidelines 2023!.

Kicking off 'Make May Purple' with our first event on the stroke unit 💜. A previous patient came back to visit us and offered to share his experience to our staff and current patients and answer some questions led by our therapy lead, Lisa Barry!. Very inspirational 🧠✨

He loved it aswell! . Engaged and motivated and working hard, despite being in bed 🧠💜💪.
Sometimes our patients need to stay in bed due complications. Today we used the MOTOmed for lower limb training so that our patient didn't miss out on therapy. This is brilliant for improving strength, endurance and to help stroke patients relearn lost movement patterns.
