It was said the ‘repeated examples of frail older residents being handled inappropriately’ does not ‘fall under the remit of HIQA’ & transferred to the HSA. How is the physical abuse & poor care experienced by the gentleman with dementia in #RTEInvestigates not the remit of HIQA?.

After #RTEInvestigates the voices of people who live in the Homes are starkly absent in today’s commentary. Just like the Emily case the older people had to suffer further, their most private moments filmed, to sound the alarm. @HIQA must speak directly to those receiving care.
HIQA confirms it is carrying out a review of all nursing homes operated by the Emeis Ireland group, after multiple care failings and neglect of vulnerable older residents at two of its nursing homes were documented by RTÉ Investigates

‘They can do what they want here’.Said the gentleman on #RTEInvestigates .The people receiving abusive care were sounding the alarm. But no-one listened. Just like the Emily case. A cultural baseline of disbelief. We need regulation with ‘teeth’ & sanction as per @ronancollins7.

The dementia care in this programme is absolutely abusive & criminal. There is no evidence of appropriate skills to support people with dementia. And the instruction to new staff to not engage/be human in their interactions is particularly horrific. #RTEInvestigates.
