“When homicide rates rise, the groups that were already most vulnerable to violence pay the price.”
An uncomfortable truth is black murders increased in sync with the rise of BLM in 2015 and then skyrocketed after the "mostly peaceful" post-Floyd BLM protests of 2020. Not because Black Lives don't matter, but because the movement was rooted in a flawed anti-policing ideology.

Really recommend Blue Moon. Ethan Hawke is terrific as Lorenz Hart, Andrew Scott makes a suave Richard Rogers. (And, maybe stretching the facts a little, there's a glimpse of a young Stephen Sondheim too.)

A good way to start the theatrical year! Patricia Hodge is one of many delights in Tom Littler's Wodehousey spin on The Rivals @OrangeTreeThtr

Tom Littler’s slick and colourful revival of Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s 1775 comedy of manners is a treat

There is little that would hold back Trump from declaring US forces & bases in Greenland to be annexed as sovereign US territory, among other steps. A president who sees the world in terms of spheres of influence & resource acquisition would have little compunction about this.
Trump says the US is going to be taking “a tremendous amount of wealth” out of the ground in Venezuela in the form of oil

"Britain is caught in a web trying to meet obligations that many other countries simply ignore."
Well informed analysis from LabourRealists substack of just how restrictionist even the most liberal European countries have become on illegal migration, including ignoring ECHR articles and rulings
