The big question really should be: Why are farmers penalized for their carbon emissions, yet never rewarded for the carbon sequestration on their farms? When will credit be given to the nations stewards of the land? Agriculture is part of the solution and deserves recognition.
Trudeau's tax plan to
#TripleTripleTriple
his carbon tax on farmers, workers & seniors is all pain and no gain.
Higher cost to make Canadian food.
More foreign food imports.
Less jobs and paycheques for our people.
Say NO to this tax hike:
Bought this long term cash grain farm next to the home place a year and a half ago. It’s been a long time since it’s had manure, perennial forages, or a thorough stone picking. It feels great to get it going on a restoration and build program.

Over 650 000 Canadians join the Convoy to Ottawa FB page in only about a week but ‘they’re the small, fringe minority…’. That kind of comment just adds fuel to the fire of the movement.
Serious questions need to be asked at the highest levels of government as to why the Ryding-Regency plant (formerly federally licensed)has not been re-licensed.The beef industry and Canadian consumers desperately need harvest capacity and this plant is ready to go

The receiving yard is at capacity (until a shift in December) with

This year marks the 100th year that we’ve pastured cattle in this valley on the home farm. This valley, because of topography, is not suitable for growing other crops. It’s producing as well or better than ever: the definition of

Buses might be cancelled here but a big shout out to Metzger Vet on the amazing service. Product delivered to the door this morning at 7:20 after a snow storm last night and a 2+ hr drive from Metzgers.
Corn 🌽 Silage /23 is winding down here at Clarklynd. About 105 acres to fill the storage this season. It was 140 acres last season so a nice bump in yield from the summer rains.

A large % of the 🌎 beef production is on range land not suitable for other forms of food production. By eliminating beef from our diets we simply stop utilizing a large amount of the 🌍 food producing area. Beef is not competing for food producing resources, it’s adding to them.
35 yrs (26 as a farm truck) the little single axle’s still got what it takes. Grain, silage, cattle… this handy little truck hauls anything!

Clarklynd corn 🌽 silage harvest is underway at Leaskdale. Moistures are highly variable with the late season droughty conditions but a guesstimate might be 63-65%in this field…. Plants are short, but ears seem a decent size so I’m hopeful for a good starch level.

I’m not a dairy producer but I have to ask: Why is he producing milk that he has no market for? How difficult is it to adjust a breeding schedule or cull a few cows? Why would you willingly dump money down the drain?
Czech Republic 🇨🇿 Bring your bottles and fill at this milk vending station. Very cool. We need to see this kind of innovation in Canada 🇨🇦

Equipment. Every farm needs it but every farm is different. Is there an appropriate amount to have invested based on size or sector or a benchmark to use? Good iron can pay but too much invested seems do you determine a limit on your equipment investment?
This weeks new arrivals to the yard are 115 all-Ontario calves. Majority are from

Very disappointing to not see our federal minister of agriculture
@mclaudebibeau
showing support for farmers on this important issue. This is about maintaining the competitiveness of Canadian agriculture.
BREAKING: Ag Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau votes against a bill to exempt on-farm fuels from the carbon tax. Who needs enemies when farmers have a minister like this?
Thankfully the bill still passed!

Max, I’m a Beef and crop farmer in Durham. I grow grains on my family farm and I can assure you that the energy used in drying has the CT applied to it. As does all fuel used to transport our products to markets and our inputs to us. We spend thousands annually on the CT.
He talks about the impact of the carbon tax on farms in his riding. But, hold on: farmers are *exempt* from the carbon tax on all marked fuels. Natural gas for grain drying? I don't think they grow much grain in Durham.
Wheat 🌾 Harvest is underway at Clarklynd. The wheat was testing around 15% moisture and the straw was dry so we baled right behind the combine. Unfortunately we only got 4 hours of harvest in before getting a light 🌧️.

Corn 🌽 silage harvest is a go!!! This spring our corn planting was delayed by 10 days on average vs last season but the start of corn silage harvest was delayed only 3 days from last year. Dry weather and seasonal adaptation resulted in a much earlier harvest than expected!
