The old Marlborough sign is up ahead of tomorrow's reopening 😍 Every time I post something about this old haunt, it seems like half the south side got married there back in the day 😂 Will be curious to see what they've done with the place. #Glasgow

My proposal agreed as part of the SNP/ Green budget today! This secures funding to progress a Universal Free Public Transport pilot in Glasgow. We urgently need affordable, integrated transport to meet people’s needs & lower climate emissions. This will help get us there! 🚌🚂

A few months ago the Council didn’t have a plan for dealing with toxic 3G pitches across the city. Now £850k has been secured to take forward a trial of a natural alternative to crumb rubber. 🌽⚽️ It’s important that schools are prioritised next to protect children’s health.

I cannot wait for this scheme to come forward in Glasgow after Green Councillors secured a budget for a pilot project with @TreesforStreets. Our streets are crying out for more trees! 🌳💪

According to researchers at Yale, for every 10% increase in tree canopy cover, there was a 15% decrease in violent crime and a 14% decrease in property crime. Yet another benefits of having a tree outside your home! 🌳🏡

At least 8 people on bicycles occupy the space for 1 modern car. This is efficiency; this is the future of cities. Build more cycle infrastructure, as not everyone can or wants to drive

It’s also vital that late public transport can be improved and expanded to support the night time economy and encourage more people out again. We’ve received commitments on all these things as a result of the motion agreed yesterday.

Business rates relief, which was recently announced by S Govt is incredibly welcome but it won’t be enough given the scale of the crisis. We still have incredibly high VAT on events, cost-of-living hitting people’s pockets & city centres which are still recovering from pandemic

The effects of ongoing financial crises are hitting the music industry hard & options like this are needed or many important grassroots venues could be lost forever. £1 is a small amount which in the grand scheme of a ticket price won’t be felt by consumers…

Without grassroots venues, so many big names could not have found the success they have & future artists may not have the same opportunities. Our reputation for music at a global level must be protected & this is one way we can do that. Glad it has received cross-party support!

@musicvenuetrust have campaigned tirelessly for a stadium levies to be introduced across the UK’s largest venues which could make a real difference to smaller venues as well as recognising the critical role that they play in developing big names’ success further down the pipeline

Grassroots venues are so vital to the music landscape in Scotland, being the places where many big names first start out. If they go, new artists will not have the same opportunities to hone their craft or make their break & our city will be less culturally rich as a result

@wearethentia are warning that by 2030 there could be no nightclubs left at the current rate of decline which is around 3 every week in the UK. Glasgow has lost several already and many others need help now before they, too, could be lost forever…

🧵 I’m delighted to have received cross-party support today for a Stadium Levy pilot to be developed at the Hydro. It’s vital that this is considered as an opportunity to raise much-needed revenue for our important grassroots venues which are struggling… https://t.co/zhTANI4TdR
