@davidharsanyi I've long maintained that the entirety of postliberalism is an aesthetic grievance by extremely eccentric people who find the modern world distasteful.

I think my “otters on a plane using WiFi” may be a saturated benchmark now that nano banana pro can do this.

On this date in innovation history: James Haven and Charles Hettrick receive a patent in 1866 for their invention of the famous yo-yo toy - they call it a “whirligig” in their patent. Almost 160 years later, the yo-yo is still a ubiquitous toy the world over. @uspto @DuncanToys

That about wraps it up for this little 12x9 rocketscape. I may do another with a slightly different take on the mountains. What would you call it? I'm thinking something along the lines of 'Homestead' or 'River Valley Overlook'. I kind of like having the title just completely

I was completely wrong about why ice is slippery. My whole life I thought it was about friction melting the ice into a thin layer of water. Turns out the real physics is way stranger and cooler than that. The "frictional melting" idea makes perfect sense on the surface, right?

Really proud of the DeepLearningAI team. When Cloudflare went down, our engineers used AI coding to quickly implement a clone of basic Cloudflare capabilities to run our site on. So we came back up long before even major websites!

This is an important, rare take. Fight tyranny and socialism with freedom and capitalism—not more socialism. In the 1960s, the West copied central planning and did Concorde and Apollo, and now we can’t fly supersonic or go to the moon. Fight socialism with capitalism!

Marc Andreessen says that America's strategic advantage lies not in mimicking China's centralized system but in doubling down on what we're good at: “What if we become more like us? And what if we lean even harder into innovation, and even harder into creativity, and even harder

I wrote a whole book on housing regulation, yet keep discovering more terrible regs. "We talk endlessly about the 'missing middle.' But the real catastrophe was the 'banished bottom'—the deliberate destruction of the cheapest rung of the housing ladder." https://t.co/L3bp4hqP2R

When you know in advance where your painting is going to hang, you can design it such that the horizon lines up with the actual horizon (as long as the viewer is of average height). I knew it would work...but it was still pretty cool to see it actually work.

Cloudflare went down because a ClickHouse change made a metadata query return duplicate columns. That blew up the size of a config file, it spread across the network and one module couldn’t handle the larger file and crashed. Everything after that was basically fallout from this

Cloudflare suffered a service outage on November 18, 2025. The outage was triggered by a bug in generation logic for a Bot Management feature file causing many Cloudflare services to be affected.
