@protectheflames @john_ritzema "Why are you getting a mobile hairdresser in? Don't you understand the casket will be closed??" Love it. Nobody does articulate anger like the Italians 🇮🇹.

@thedigitalyenta My friend was freezing cold one day and couldn’t stop shivering. Her husband told her she had bad circulation and needed to exercise more. Turns out she was burning up from a serious infection and ended up in the emergency room.

@KaeleyT A male friend and I were discussing a mutual female friend who had decided to leave her husband because of emotional abuse. The male friend expressed skepticism and asked me to name specific instances of when she had been abused. Why can’t we just believe women?.

@GinnaCross Is it possible that 3 year olds are simultaneously awesome and annoying, and that’s just how they are and no-one is the “problem”.

@john_ritzema @protectheflames It'll work if he does it in Italian. I've never seen the word "cazzo" used so many times in public messaging.

Next Tuesday I defend my PhD thesis on #classactions in England and Canada. I am daunted, to say the least. I could really use some encouragement and expressions of support right now. #lawtwitter.

@KeriLeighMerrit Posts like this always make me laugh because Americans are so keen to say “I’m leaving the US” without even pausing to think whether anywhere else would want them.

@ryanmckeen I flew to another city and met co-counsel at his house, met his wife, then we all went out for a meeting over dinner. The next morning he filed a 75-page document opposing the motion. Reader, he was CO-counsel. It was his motion too. And the defendants had already consented.

@clhubes I should do that but instead pretend I’m feeding my kid purée till he’s 4 just to troll the BLW crowd.

I’m very proud to be the academic member of this committee! So excited to be working with these and other highly qualified and experienced folks to bring about meaningful change.
Ontario is launching a FULL review of the rules of civil procedure. Alongside Chief Justice Morawetz, we are working in consultation with justice partners to deliver necessary modernization. All part of Ontario's plan to bring outdated justice services into the 21st

So the defence went really well and I’m pretty sure I passed, but I won’t know for sure until the examiners submit their reports to the Law Faculty. So…. yay me? #lawtwitter #almostadoctor.

@andrewhunterm I once said to someone on a bus “did you know you can change the settings on your iPhone so your keyboard doesn’t make that clicky noise?” And he said “oh no I didn’t! Can you show me?” So I did and his phone was quiet after that. Best feeling ever.

@clhubes LOL. Totally agreed. Also, I was lucky enough to have paid mat leave for a year. If I hadn’t had that and someone “couldn’t keep their mouth shut” and told me it was “unnatural” to put my child in daycare, I would shut it for them. You don’t like it? Pay my bills then.

My #civpro exam asked students how they would reform Ontario's civil justice system, and the answers are so good I just want to send them all to @douglasdowney. It would be like the law school equivalent of writing to Santa.

@dougdowney has approved changes to the Rules of Civil Procedure, to come into force on January 1, 2021. I summarize the major/substantive changes in this thread. #lawtwitter.
As part of our government’s commitment to make the justice system more accessible, responsive and resilient, we have worked with our justice partners to deliver landmark changes to make civil procedures work better for Ontarians.

@10MinuteHistory Hi, I'm a law professor. You may know me from such hits as "it might be on the exam, but either way you need to know this", "the deadline is in the email I sent you", and (for family and friends) "no, I will not 'get you off' if you do that obviously stupid and criminal thing".

@edburmila @KLyo23 I was going to ask why you need $11k/month on zebras and tapirs and then I realized it said “unguents” and not ungulates.

@ItsMattsLaw I love the way she says “this seems to have reached an audience outside the legal community” like the legal community would think this is totally normal.

@HannahPosted In fairness to this guy, it seemed they’d only been friends for a few months, had only met IRL once or twice, and every time the friend contacted him it was “for words of wisdom” without showing any kind of reciprocity. I do agree that the guy’s response was very weirdly written.

Turns out #NewBrunswick is one giant media monopoly, meaning this cartoonist could be instantly fired by almost every newspaper in the province (because they're owned by the same family). That has major freedom of speech implications. #michaeldeadder

@yuanyi_z It’s beautiful and awesome, but for maybe 10 minutes and then you have either Maid in the Mist (wet) or Clifton Hill (horrendously tacky). After the Falls, head to Niagara on the Lake instead.

My son was born at Mount Sinai. We had incredible care. We are not Jewish. At least one of our care team was Muslim. These protestors are disgusting.
This is Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada. The hospital was established because Jewish doctors had no place to train or work due to anti-semitism. Tonight a crowd is chanting for violence against Jews outside this place of healing. #antisemitism #BillC3 @SinaiHealth

It's my last day at @westernuLaw! It's been an odd two years - between pandemic teaching & parental leave I've barely been on campus. But I'm grateful to @lawdeanerika and my colleagues for their support and camaraderie. There are exciting times ahead for all of us!.

Justice Belobaba wrote the foreword to my first book. He was a huge force behind the introduction and development of #classactions in Ontario. He was kind, funny, and always had something interesting to say. He loved helping students. What a huge loss.

@factory_femme @clhubes Or put the groceries in the car, go to the cart terminal (or whatever they’re called) with the kid in the cart, take kid out, return cart, go back to car with kid. This is not a fox-rabbit-lettuce riddle.

If it weren’t for the pandemic, it would be a great day for a #lawtwitter viewing of My Cousin Vinny at my place. We could eat cookie swap cookies and discuss whether the legal parts are accurate, and my husband would confirm that the Italian parts are, in fact, accurate.
