@LuMo71 1. Pro capite sono peggio di EU 2. Cumulati ci stanno superando 3.

On C negative SAF we are just breaking the ice now, and you know these are essential in the medium to long term. On costs, instead, I have more concerns: we need to leverage all possible means to reduce a still high gap, and I fear policy pulled estimates are optimistic..
@ChiaramontiD
https://t.co/8NeXHwE1cf. Not indeed very interesting tbd 1. Sustainable: should we have a truly sustainable SAF (1.5% o global GHG ems) w/out reducing the agricultural ems ( 12%)? 2. Scalability : on energy or GHG savings basis? How to get net zero w/out C negative SAF? 👋👋

However, @BozzettoStefano , said that CO2 is the right metric, the main issue is how to cover the cost gap, and if these estimates are industrially realistic or just consequemce of policy pull, which may or may not realize. It depends on covering the cost gap (and who does it)
Hi from Kenya, @BozzettoStefano . I will check the recording later, but the webpage has one small section on the CO2 efficiency. Also I still read BECCS approach (CO2), rather then exploiting the organic Carbon (C) not converted to #biofuels.

Hi David @ChiaramontiD great file from prof.@Rob__Miller about the need to reverse the paradigm of SAF policies from €/MWh to €/tonCO2e avoided The C intensity issues every time more relevant to allow “truly sustainable scalable biofuels” Lot to dig in https://t.co/Gu3pKJUmv4

Our latest work examined #biochar permanence after 15 years in a cultivated vineyard soil. Biochar is a form of #permanent #carbon #removal: techniques to assess it are today available. https://t.co/f0NENxoxtF

#EBAConference | We explored #biomethane’s role in #transport decarbonisation. 🚢#BioLNG offers an immediate solution to reduce emissions in shipping by using existing LNG vessels and infrastructure. ✈️Biomethane-based SAF could transform #aviation's path to #carbonneutrality.

With #biomethane cracking over tailored #Carbon bed, we are developing routes to 1.5-2 €/kgH2. This is possible as #biomass routes through #biogenic Carbon generate multiple additional income and environmental benefits, while RES-electrol-H2 do not have this feature #biochar

#Biochar is a durable (long-lived) Carbon Dioxide Removal method and a Negative Emission Technology. We addressed its long lived nature in our latest paper, as well as Mineralization in the context of soil science and CDR. https://t.co/TN5nWID0Fs

Qualcuno si pone la domanda? Quante famiglie senza lavoro?

Did you know this: when you use renewable electricity to make hydrogen, you can't use it for things that abate 2x to 9x more emissions, namely getting coal off the grid, powering heat pumps and charging EVs. Call me old-fashioned, but I think this should have policy implications.

@FranFerrante @A_LisaCorrado @Antonio_Decaro @ale_moretti @ignaziomarino @robdellaseta @smenichini @GiaSilvestrini @StefanoCiafani @monicafrassoni Bene Ottimo! @ChiaramontiD

For carbon removal, the 2020s is about figuring out what works. What is the most scaleable, sustainable, cheapest, least resource-intensive thing we can do to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. The CDR startup Running Tide is now laying off all staff. They piloted an approach

Good points, Stefano. We need more work on it before giving a reply, and do not pretend having a quick answer. Also the ship fleet are different depending on type of route (lenght) and logistics are different. Not sure one solution fits to all. More after deepening this aspects.
@ChiaramontiD @MLiebreich @biofuelslaw @FranFerrante @JerryDMurphy66 @brunobasso1 @JMGlachant @BrianVad @TheRosaLab @Rob__Miller @Sustainable2050 LNG vessels orders are 10x indeed vs CH3OH 🚢 David liquefy biomethane cost 8-17€/MWh The Qs are 1.shd be competitive bioCH4 to BioCH3OH liquefaction summing up thermodynamics losses +capex/opex? 2.Does methanol volumetric energy density hampering methanol bunkering forever?

If you read the Concept, the potential for distributed AD is huge and centralized refinery is technically possible by using the infrastructure (if in place, like in Italy). We are not discussing here the production of MeOH from CO2, however (eFuel?), but from CH4
@ChiaramontiD Methanol is very expensive. Hard to believe there is enough biogenic CO2 to make a quantity that moves the needle
