Hey, y'all! #TilesonTuesday & #Dragon lovers are covered. This was made by Juan de Badajoz for the #Leon #cloister, early 16th c. Or is he a #serpent? Looks like he had a bad night, but I'm in love with that scarf! @NCDrusus38 @BooksTeaFilms @ArtHistAnimalia @TheHistoryMouse

#OwlishMonday We have a shard from Naukratis, late 5th/early 6th bce. Maybe a symbol of #Athena? Mighty cute, tho'. #BritishMuseum @BooksTeaFilms @ArtHistAnimalia @smyth_jeannette @AE_art_history @Jim73131158 @TweetsCoffman @TheHistoryMouse @StroudStory

#StaircaseSaturday This is not famous, but an indelible memory for me. The ad for the apt. said, "not on the ground floor," & we thought, "OK, fine." It turned out it was on the 6th floor. We had to schlep it 2-4 times a day for a week. #oops #ParisSaintGermain @BooksTeaFilms

@johnevigar @Portaspeciosa @chapps @InDamnatio @antmoose @WittsPat @NCDrusus38 @arakhnos @SarahBlick3 @Ritterton @chartres_Fiona Anyone have an idea about what tree behind Lazarus is? I'm guessing a young laurel tree, to honor dead youth.

#MosaicMonday is here. This piece uses tesserae more as an accent than a whole composition, but it's too beautiful not to share. Church of the Holy Ghost, Crowcombe. Poignant #WW1 memorial. Raising of Lazarus. Hopes for seeing lost sons again. @SimoninSuffolk@ @johnevigar

I've learned it's #StaircaseSaturday, so here's a #staircase from #saintpaulmn. The Endicott Building back stairs, 1899.

Finally: #Lazarus and Jonah imagery in Christian #medieval art. I get to use the phrase, "the buttocks are pristine" perhaps for the first time in my life! @TraffordLj //www.pilgrimtothepast.com/post/wistful-revivals-jonah-lazarus-as-promises-of-resurrection-in-christian-art.

Museo del Duomo of #Milano is an underrated gem. It has over 180 sculptures which once graced the cathedral. Just one: #angel holding the crown of thorns, circa 1485. The pensive, internal gaze just slays me. #medieval #medievaltwitter @BooksTeaFilms @WittsPat @Phyllida1234

For #MosaicMonday, I have this exquisite find from Saint Mary's Church in Bishop Lydeard. WW1 memorial, with St. George & his flame-red #Dragon. Really lovely.

Can't wait for the next #adoorablethursday: this #door is too beautiful. St. Mary's, Wedmore, #Somerset . That ironwork! The workman was clearly proud of making the new door in 1677. @DoorsNo3828 , I hope you like this one! @BooksTeaFilms @WittsPat @Ritterton @Portaspeciosa

Not often I have a contribution for #adoorableThursday, but this one in the undercroft of #Wells #Cathedral is mighty special. It looks as though it might break into bloom at any moment. #medieval #medievaltwitter

Here's a pretty pull-back shot of the Norman font at st. Mary's, Luppitt. Otherwise, the famed bellringers dominate the tower area. #fontsonFriday #MedievalMonday #ReliefWednesday #churchcrawl '25.

Here's the martyrdom panel of the Luppitt Norman font. 2 guys are hammering a spike into an unfortunate head, while holding up their shields. On the left is a mysterious big chomp by a monster on a guy. #SundayStonework #MedievalMonday #FontsonFriday #ReliefWednesday
