I had some wonderful adventures on my sabbatical. But the single best day was one year ago today, when I awoke in Lunenburg to find the mist rolling in from the harbour. Skipped breakfast, grabbed the camera bag. ❤️

The PM thinks we should vacation in 🇨🇦 more. I'm all in. Here's the first of several blogs about Canadian places well worth visiting. My touchstone, as always, will be cool architecture. Feel free to add to the list!. #VacationInCanada.

Here's an example. This is so far from reality that it's laughable. Is this person lying? Deluded? A bot? I honestly don't get it.

Another story on Carleton's financial challenges (and by extension, those of Ontario universities in general). What's really striking is the comments, almost all of which seem to have been written by people who truly hate universities.

My latest podcast, in which blind theatre artist/writer/teacher Alex Bulmer discusses how she experiences architecture and place with every sense except sight. I think everyone interested how we design spaces should hear this.

In our 2nd-year core course, 'Experiencing Architecture', we've been discussing tactility. We visited the wonderful @MuseumofNature this morning, which offers some vivid experiences of touch. (Are we allowed to post about something other than politics today?)

This is my 100th blog post on our departmental website! And it's one that gives me special pride, because it's about two of our grads and the important work they're doing at either end of the country:.

Great questions asked by John M. Richardson. I've asked myself every one of them - some of them almost daily.

He spoke daily with the dead. He read poetry and wrote books on economics. He served as Prime Minister for 21 years. And he built ruins - places where the imagination is invited to come out and play. W.L. Mackenzie King was the ultimate #Halloween PM. 🎃👻😱

The Grand Theatre in Dawson City, Yukon, is a 1961 replica of the 1899 original. It's such a perfect replica that, I'm told, the ghosts that haunted the old theatre have glided seamlessly into the new one. 👻🎃😱
