Activists of an age like me @RogerPGervais feeling the profound loss of Judy Heumann, hero of disability rights in USA. Canada has weak legislation so we benefit from her work - think American Hotel Chains in Canada. #RIPJudy you inspire #CanadiansWithDisabilitiesAndTheirAllies
Heumann was instrumental in pushing to expand the civil rights of Americans with disabilities and continued to advocate for disability rights around the globe. She died on Saturday at age 75.

C-22 is crucial work by @BonitaZarrillo - to amend the income tax act and include adequacy provisions in keeping with the UNCRPD. It’s International People With Disabilities Month so write your MP with simple request to support C-22 and irradiate the legislated deep poverty.
@Victor_Lees I am working on this now at the federal level to have adequacy enshrined in c-22. I need all the push I can get on that so that the government knows adequacy is non-negotiable. #writeYourMP and tell them to support an amendment to C-22 to include adequacy.

People should be able to count on the pension they have paid into their whole life, but when a company goes bankrupt in Canada our laws protect banks and creditors first, leaving only the scraps for workers.

Excellent letter- Thank you @LGretzky for standing up and making it clear the solution is that these programs need to be extended - the plight of people with disabilities is desperate and the political inaction is appalling.
88 families in my community are on the verge of becoming homeless due to @fordnation not extending two provincial housing subsidies beyond March 31, 2022. This is cruel and unacceptable. I am demanding Ford and Minister @SteveClarkPC fund these programs immediately. #onpoli

I hope ppl realize that when they tell the #chronicallyill/#disabled community to “just stay home then” for 2+ yrs not only do our social lives & mental health take a hit but we’re legit not getting the proper medical care we need either while “normal” ppl are at concerts & shit
