Lowest combined four-seam and sinker usage through the first couple games of Spring Training... 1. Red Sox: 39.1% (duh) 2. Marlins: 41.1% (duh) 3. Nationals: 43.3% (YES!) The Nationals led all of MLB last year with 55.3% fastball usage. Toboni is cookin'. 👨🍳

If you want to throw gas you need to build the engine! Here is force plate data from the hardest throwers that have trained at the Lab. While throwing elite level speeds is more complex than just total body force output, this gives a great picture of powerful all of these guys

a reality-pill for all pitchers this morning. If you aren’t ready to sacrifice everything in this current era of players, then you really have no chance. All the way down to a habitual level, 24/7.
95 is the new 90, and it doesn’t even guarantee you’ll have a chance to play professional baseball anymore. You’re competing against players who have finely tuned development plans, dialed in 4-6 pitch arsenals and who do nothing but obsess over how to get 1% better each month.
