N v J [2024] EWFC 184 (15 July 2024): Judgment in financial remedy proceedings, dealing with issue of whether domestic abuse constituted conduct, so as to affect the settlement. Held that the conduct claim should be excluded from issues for consideration.

Annie (A Child) (Finding of Fact: Allegations of Sexual Abuse), Re [2024] EWFC 171 (B) (8 July 2024): Fact-finding in private law proceedings concerning two allegations that the father had sexually abused the child. Neither allegation found to be proved.

This has the potential to be an absolutely incredible appointment. I need to sit down.

For anyone looking to interpret legal opinions, I give you the fabled "tax opinion standards" document. Pannick's "strongly arguable" formulation sadly isn't here. Neither is the "loudly arguable" a colleague once suggested as a more accurate alternative.
