In my latest large scale (single tweet, n=1, very convenient sample) test race, twitter is losing. But it's probably different if you fund dictatorships?.
There are now papers showing that the migration of academic communities from Twitter to other social media sites mostly failed. But they never fully returned to Twitter either. I wonder if we will ever see so many different communities interacting in the same online space again.

My foray into IRT software with bigIRT for R now has a proper paper describing it, comparing performance. Might also be interesting for non-big data cases. Needs work to add flexibility on multidim & non-binary, if anyone wants a project ;). #rstats.

After seeing papers I can't find anymore discussing lme4 approximations of SEM models, I thought the major limit was constant residual sd. Trying it, I can't see how to scale random effects by an estimated par (ie factor loading) though - possible? links to papers?.

Curious, does *anyone* understand this wonderful double barreled question from Microsoft? How do I a) stay signed in and b) keep my computer to myself? Do I read the questions top to bottom, with answers following questions, or is there some kind of spatial hierarchy?

ctsem 3.10 for continuous and discrete time dynamic systems modelling is on CRAN. bug fix for time-varying par models; correlation approach is improved; ctACF function for auto and cross correlation plots, example in here
