Not only did the baron kill Leto... Paul awoke to hear the Baron's soldiers talking about dumping him and his mother in the desert and leaving them to die. This is poetic justice that he's the one that got dumped in the desert. "The desert takes the weak"
This shows how intertwined they are... When he dreams he does something it's really Chani. And when he dreams Chani does something it's really him doing it.
@dyinlevi
He also knew the Freman did not respect BG mind games. Freman also respect leaders who lead from the front. The Emperor sending Feyd to fight for him while he stayed behind armed guards shows how weak of a leader the emperor was... Paul had to show he was the better man.

@trygraptor
That's because his father was over protective. Paul wasn't allowed to leave the palace on Caladan as well. That's why all of his friends were his adult teachers.
@ennuieternel
I get that Spider-Man is a pay check and she get to spend time with her boyfriend. But she is staring in movies now. SM seems like a step backwards.
@SayyadinaHeresy
Remember Paul told Gurney he did not see the attack coming? It was before he took the water of life. He also saw Chani killed in a fire. Which didn't happen.
@tykjen
I also loved in part 1 Chani is the one walking around with blood on her hands. While in part 2 Paul started a war that will cost billions of people their lives.
@JohnnySobczak
His biggest accomplishment was impressing Denzel Washington. I believe Baz luhrmann said that Denzel put in a good word for Austin when he was casting Elvis.
@CinemaTweets1
I've been rewatching Part I and II. Michael before losing his 1st wife (and their unborn child per the book). And after Apollonia was murdered in front of him... shows Al's genius. Before he is a quiet but light hearted man. After he is very serious and trusts no one.
@diz__zee
For some reason Paul cannot see things when a member of the spacing Guild is also around. That's how the people who were scheming against Paul were able to meet without him knowing.
@sourlittleme
Paul is who his parents made him to be. Lady Jessica gets all the flack for how Paul turned out. But Leto isolated Paul, made him a mentat without Paul's knowledge, and instilled a sense of superiority/the belief he was born to rule over people.
@SecretsOfDune
This is not surprising. Everyone knows they have a bias against Sci-Fi movies. Any actor in a Sci-Fi movie has a hard hill to climb to get an Oscar nomination.
@JohnnySobczak
Maybe since Dune isn't finished... they will honor him after part 2? But seriously how does the whole technical ship get honored, but not the captain?

I just realized how much like Romeo and Juliet the end of Messiah is... after Paul loses Chani. He walks into the desert hoping a big worm will kill him.

She can still go if she pays for her own ticket. The 5 tech categories nominees (who have actually nominations) would like for you to hold their beer.
@DenisDayaFilms
I know that Nolan was so pissed about HBO Max doing same day in theaters on their app that he left Warner Brothers. They must have given him tons of money, directorial freedom, and Final Cut for him to come back.

@tenilleclarke1
Because the seat they purchased for the kid cost less money then A1. If they could've gotten that woman to move. They would have finessed a premium seat.
@Musetta_May
Only if DV rewrites the story for them movie. Because in the book Paul pays Irulan dust. Everyone (but Irulan) calls Chani Paul's real wife. To Paul Irulan is just an annoying reminder that he did not marry the love of his life.
@lefilmara
I'm sure Z covered the cost of most of her style team. I agree with Law the studios need to put money behind the press tour stylist. Especially stylists like him that put in the work to connect the tour wardrobe to the film.
Hans Zimmer talked about how this song starts out being a sweet love story for Paul and Chani. And by the end the song is sad and almost like a song for a funeral.
Anyone else noticed that Paul tells Chani over & over again that he is Freman and he is doing this for the Freman people. But when he calls the emperor to the carpet he only talks about the emperor has to pay for what he did to Leto/House Atreides. The Freman didn't get a mention

@DuneScholar
I can't wait to see how she and Paul get back together. I understand why their first son was written out of the movie. But the twins are too important to write out. Especially if the franchise continues with or without DV.
@julietsavvyer
At the point of time Paul's life was more important to Jessica. She really didn't have any other options. She had to take the water of life or she and Paul would have died.
Irulan: You chose me for the position.
Paul: Not I, Fate chose you. Your father chose you, the Bene Gesserit chose you, The Guild chose you. And they have chosen you once more. For what have they chosen you, Irulan?
@EverydayDune
I always say Denis decision to keep Chani and Paul in the same frame (while he says this) is genius. His mother is the only person he knows there. After he kills Jamis he doesn't go to her. He walks towards his future (chani and the Fremen).

I think in the movie she's going to be less conflicted. And more about wanting revenge for the downfall of her family. And she and Chani may have more of a adversarial relationship in the movies than they had in the book.
I think Paul wasn't honest with himself. He wanted too much. He wanted revenge, power (Irulan), to be Freman, and he wanted Chani. He picked the path that he thought he could have all of that. Remember even in the book Paul is very young. In the movie he's abt 16/17 years old.
Important distinction
Chani realizing Paul has to marry someone else for political reasons after working it out in her head and accepting it as a sad reality
Chani fully realizing Paul betrayed her trust and manipulated her people for his own plans and designs
@gratified523
Paul the man just wants to be one of the Freman and to live his life with Chani. But Paul also wants to get revenge for his father and his house. Obviously he can't have both lives.
@Variety
As a X-Files fan from way back I'm going to tell you what was wrong with the reboot. It was way to glossy. X-Files was always a dark gritty TV show. And the next worst thing they did was make Scully and Mulder a couple. That good friends sexual tension is what drove the show.
Jessica also seems to want revenge. Duke Leto was the love of her life. Plus she is scared for Paul. Is she unethical yes, is what she's doing evil yes, but she has her reasons. Like most characters in The Dune franchise she's flawed.
@thejessicacrime
I think it started before that. At breakfast Jessica asked Paul about his dreams. He lied and said he stopped having those dreams. Then he found out Jessica reported his dreams to the BGs. Then he found out he was only born because BGs ordered Jessica to have the Duke's baby.
In the first scene he'd lost everything his father, his house, and his wealth.
In the second scene he gained revenge for his father, his house, and was now emperor.
@paulchanichlmt
He used to tell his mother but she was betraying him by telling the Reverend Mother everything Paul told her.
"RM wants to know more about your dreams"
"How does she know about my dreams"
