My favourite discovery ever has just come online. Can I please tell you about some seriously wacky molecular biology? The story starts with a reverse transcriptase that SOMEHOW defends bacteria from viruses. (👇 I recommend sound ON for the video 🎹) 1/

AI can be used to make convincing looking fake data. There is no way we can distinguish real from fake anymore. It is safe to assume that genAI has already resulted in many fake papers. Scientific publishing is not prepared for this.
Generative AI fraud example by me. The rightmost column of tumors was created by AI using the first 6 (supposedly) real ones. Time required: 30 seconds.

I just think people who haven't been to a Great Lake don't understand. This is an unfiltered shot of Lake Michigan.

Made it four years. Tested positive this morning. Feel like shit. Once I recover, I'll continue masking in public and getting vaccine boosters and I hope you will, too.
President has Covid, Second Gentleman has Covid, LA mayor has Covid, hospitals having Covid outbreaks, Covid wards reopening. But also Covid is over? But also it’s not going away? Of course we should do nothing about it!

If you think a nightmarish, unconstitutional round up of innocent people, merely suspected of being enemies of the state, can’t happen in the U.S., then you’re forgetting that it already has. I was among them, along with my entire family and community.

I wore a mask to a comedy show last night and you'll never guess what happened. Unless your guess was something like "You had a good time, felt safe, and reduced your and others' risk of transmitting infectious diseases during a COVID surge" It was?! Damn, you're a good guesser.

GWAS on EA/IQ are today's version of Morton's craniometry studies, imo. Every time I see these terrible papers pop-up, I wonder how we stop people from pursuing such fundamentally flawed "research" that is often steeped in racial biases & completely lacking scientific rigor.

Not ancient history. Barely even in the past. The people who screamed at him are still walking around, and some of them are proud of the way they acted.
Alex Rodriguez asked a question. Reggie Jackson answered it. (Shouts to the producer and rest of the desk for staying out of Reggie’s way and just letting him talk. I doubt they expected this answer. But it’s a great few minutes of television.) https://t.co/7WqjlppvF8

I know structural racism can seem pretty abstract, but Kathy Hochul canceling the subway extension to Harlem to appease wealthy suburban business owners is a pretty clear cut case of structural racism. https://t.co/jZeJ4honDm

Harlem and Second Avenue residents react to the congestion pricing pause. Some celebrate relief from new tolls, while others worry about transit funding cuts.

I feel honoured to speak at the “Diversity in Clinical Genomics: Minding the gap” meeting today in Cambridge Parachute science hindered Africa's genomics. Initiatives like @H3Africa empower local researchers, but more strategic efforts are needed to build capacity and leadership

It's worth remembering that Juneteenth came from white supremacists not complying with the Emancipation Proclamation. News didn't "arrive slowly." Black people had to seize freedom from their captors in light of this fact. We need to check our language early and often.
