My favorite offense in FCS! They were so much fun to watch! Excited to see what they do in the future!
Thanks to the awesome players and staff that made this possible! Time to attack 2026 and beyond! #STATE

Receivers are probably the easiest position to find at your school. They come in many shapes/sizes & several kids want to play the position. Plus, it’s probably the easiest position to work on the skills needed in the offseason. More reason to be 10 personnel & run the shoot.

Cool journey for Victor Gabalis starting his career with Rolovich and Stutzman his first two yrs. Now he’s the starting QB for the #4 offense in FCS & still in the playoffs. Tarleton St has been an offense I want to study, even more so now. Hopefully they’re running some shoot.

Idaho State running Change RPO. Definitely a good concept to have in any game.

What can you do in the offseason to help a QB that is timid in the pocket?

I like giving daily position specific tasks for players to get on their own in addition to the workouts they already get. 1 example that I saw at Tx St is their WRs have to get 100 catches a day & sign off on it with their position coach. What are some other examples of this?

Players that watch a lot of football on tv are usually better football players. They’re more likely to have a higher football IQ and it shows that they love the game.

I admit I’m not a huge fan of drills. Many drills require excessive equipment & set up for minimal return. Can become vain for some coaches or busy work for others. Some positions benefit from drills more than others like OL but I don’t think they should be relied on too much.
"I hate drills. Walkthroughs, walkthroughs, that's all we have now. We used to come out and PRACTICE FOOTBALL. Now we're having team meetings on the field. If we didn't have a script, we couldn't coach." - Bill Parcells 😂

Looking at offensive line play, how much do you encourage pancakes from your OL? And if you are struggling with getting cheap holding calls from your OL what is your solution?

“That’s a great play. Want to put it in? What are we taking out?”

Hawaii has been running the ball with a sniffer this year. Defenses see that and play their sniffer different than spread. Good little change up with the exit motion to take advantage of defenses adjustments.

Love this answer from Jeff Choate on what he’s looking for in a new OC. Adaptability is good but just as important is running a system. An O that has most of its plays installed before the season. Not installing new plays every week. & attacks specific areas with counter punches

How much Run N Shoot do you see in the NFL? And who runs the most choice routes? @kurt13warner

Every QB processes things differently. It’s important to determine the timing your QB has on each concept and pair it with a concept that matches that timing on the backside.

What are your favorite short yardage run plays without using a TE?

I find it interesting how many people talked about Mike Leach as a genius, oftentimes bringing up his law degree as to why he was so smart. Yet, he basically ran the same exact offense every single year which was considered simple. Maybe the simplicity is part of the genius.

Proud of these men throughout the season. #1, #5, #8 in Receiving Yards in the Conference. Relentless dedication & Intelligent decision making finds production. Very appreciative of this entire WR group in continuing to push each other everyday. #SpreadAndShred continues to
