We know what defines β€œeducational opportunity” yet our current system is still failing to provide our students with authentic ones while they are in the classroom.

Science can feel intimidating because it is full of abstract ideas and tricky vocabulary. One way I make it more accessible is through pretraining. 🧡

Somewhere along the way in education we lost sight of the difference between β€œ21st century skills” and using technology as entertainment or the easy way out.

I received an amazing compliment today from my campus crisis counselor and it reminded me of why I chose to become a classroom teacher 20 years ago, πŸ’– It really meant a lot to hear her words.

A Principal friend said to me the most profound statement: β€œIt’s really hard leading in public education if you want to do what’s best for children.” Let that sink in for a minute……

The Texas education system is the 2nd largest in the country– so why do we rank 42nd in per-pupil spending? https://t.co/g6GHaTsWL6 #FundOurSchools #TxLege #TxEd

Do you know what many of the highest-performing countries in education have in common? There is a strong emphasis on treating teachers with respect and providing them with support and recognition for their work. They prioritize the development and well-being of their teachers.

Standardized testing assesses conformity and uniformity. In a world where innovation and adaptability are paramount, measuring success by standardized metrics is like using an 8-track tape player for music - outdated and unable to capture the dynamic complexities of today

Teacher retention: if you want to keep the best teachers, treat them like they are the best. Few teachers leave an environment where they feel valued, supported, appreciated, and treated like professionals.
