Most people do not know what typical indie game life looks like. So here's some concrete, real numbers. Preface: yes, of course some studios beat these odds and these numbers. But it is not the norm.
@raphkoster I don’t doubt your point about marketing, especially at the high end of the market. As for indie games, is it not possible to reduce costs below the expected return?

I would advise against making a game in 11 languages where you can remove and replace words to create new sentences. That's all I've got to say about this.
