I’m against tariffs—a trade war would be terrible—but exaggerating their dangers could backfire. The biggest risk from raising tariffs has (so far) been dodged.

International students bring a diversity of views & experiences + education is a major US export. Yet student visa appointments are scarce in select countries. Even allies like Japan. Makes me worry that student visas are now chips in trade negotiations.
