A lot of replies and messages about recent weather in Europe and some asking why am I sharing videos etc not from Ireland. Honestly this is a hobby page that I, just one person run because of my interest in weather. If you don’t like the content please feel free to just unfollow…
Can the media please stop saying Halloween or Christmas are cancelled! Kids can hear this stuff too and it’s causing upset. Halloween and Christmas don’t need big groups to be special for kids, just some imagination!!
A friend is currently in Pescheiria on Lake Garda in Italy and just recorded these clips of an intense thunderstorm with huge hail and crazy amount of lightning in second part with temperatures of 30c!
I see I hit 90k followers recently. Thanks to all those who posted positive comments while some others decided to attack me and my so called hidden agendas. I’ve thick skin and positive outlook so they won’t get me down 😁
In some personal news I’m delighted that
@carlowchamber
have decided to award me the Ambassador award this year. Great to be able to promote my home county.
Just to be clear, I don’t control the weather so sending me abusive messages about a risk of snow and abusing me about it won’t change what the weather decides to do🤣. I also quickly use the block button and then smile😁
This video shared on Snapchat shows rotation which supports the reports of a Tornado in Leitrim Village today. Hoping everyone is OK after this shocking event.
I see
#StormDebi
blew in some new followers, thanks for the follow and remember this is just my hobby. Thanks a million to those who bought me pizzas also. It’s a nice clear night here to run off some of them even if it was a little slow after the lack of sleep.
The storm is tracking East now and winds will suddenly increase as it moves. Please do not be fooled if it is still calm with you this morning.
#StormEunice
is still coming. Please retweet.
Assaranca Waterfall at Ardara in Donegal today after the intense rainfall from
#StormDebi
after 46mm of rain fell. What looks like a river is actually the road!
My father sent me this photo this evening of sun setting over Dublin from his view in a hospital bed. He has had 31 surgeries over the last 20 years and is still going strong and he’ll be home this weekend after his most recent one. You’ll never keep a good man down💪
Next weekend is looking really promising and could be the lift so many people and businesses need. Lawnmowers will be roaring and garden centre car parks will be jammed🤞
"A celestial dance above ancient stones – The magic of Newgrange🌌"
What a night last night!! The aurora borealis came to Ireland's Ancient East!! As the clock struck midnight we witnessed tall pillars of light glide across the sky. A night to remember!
The 3pm station reports show winds have increased again and now reached red levels in Belmullet already with 91kmh sustained wind and gusts up to 119kmh
#StormIsha
sadly this video from Salthill Galway shows how some people don’t heed warnings!!
Happy New year to all my followers, now over 70k of you following my hobby here!
2022 had some interesting weather and I hope 2023 brings you whatever weather you desire.
Still no named storm this season and with high pressure setting up over us snd sending Jet Stream North we won’t see one anytime soon. Great to have a winter without major flooding or severe winds. We should celebrate the good weather news stories as much as the bad news!
Cheers to a lovely evening now, still 22c at 9pm which feels much fresher. Thanks for all the engagement over the last few days and some new followers. Reminder this is just a hobby for me.
I had loads of ideas for an April fools joke on weather with lots of old charts etc but I’ve decided the weather at present is enough of a joke and we don’t need any more stress!
Get the BBQ and ice-cream ready for our two day weather special coming this Wednesday and Thursday with temperatures up to 26c. But when it’s gone, it’s gone 😆
Video sent in from Ballincollig Cork today of a possible tornado! Anyone else in that area spot it or any reports of damage?
Captured by Elaine Pilkinton.
Time to relax now after a long night and day. I see Dudley and Eunice blew in some new followers, this is a hobby for me and something I do in my spare time. If you want to support what I do then you can make a small monthly pledge via
Total rainfall forecast for next 7 days and isn’t that better looking! Be patient on the roads over the next week or so as farmers try and catch up with all that work as things improve on the land. Their work is our food.
The shortest day of the year this is the 22nd of December but by Sunday the sunset stretch will start with the sun setting a minute later at 16:12.
Longer days are coming 🙌
Delighted to receive an award for my work on Carlow Weather at the inaugural Carlow Cathaoirleach Awards tonight by Carlow County Council and Cathaoirleach
@BrianODonoghue1
I’m not going to debate with anyone about climate change on this account. Climate change is happening and is causing more extreme weather. We also have seen many heatwaves in the past & 32c is not the end of the world. Both are true but I post about weather as a hobby not climate
After storms I always get the messages that it was much worse than forecast and then also plenty saying it was only a breeze. Can’t please all the people and if you have escaped and have power this morning maybe think yourself lucky rather than post comments like “what storm”🙂
Shocking images from Midleton now. So sad to see and so many not prepared for it.
I tried to get across the message of what was coming but this is just a hobby for me. We need that flood warning system live 😔
I see I’ve gained some new followers in the last week, it only takes a storm or defend cold spell 😁
You are all very welcome and I’ll try keep you up to date over the coming days and weeks but remember this is just a hobby for me. So, don’t blame the weather on me 😆
This day 5 years I walked a few km after storm Emma and Beast from the East hit and witnessed some huge drifts of snow on local roads. Possibly the most memorable walk of my life and a day I’ll never forget with such rare sights.
We are likely to see a heatwave in Ireland from around the middle of this week into next weekend. That is 5 days with top temperature over 25c and latest GFS models show up to 31c possibly next weekend!
I see the heatwave brought some new followers. Be warned I don’t just do nice weather though, I also tweet during storms and cold 😁
Also this is a hobby for me so sorry if I didn’t get to all the message and comments.
The Winter solstice sunrise over the Bronze Age hill forts near Tullow this morning.
The center of Ring of the Rath (Rathgall Hillfort) aligns with the sun rising between the Wicklow hills. Also the often forgotten Knockeen Hillfort adjacent.
Ever wondered where the River Slaney starts? Well this it here, between Lugnaquilla and Slievemaan mountains in Wicklow. Photo from drone this morning.
Absolutely delighted to have the new weather station and computer up and running today. A huge thanks to all my followers who supported the gofundme to replace the old station and pc. The website is updating again every 60 seconds.
Well that was a busy morning and afternoon, back home safely to warm up. Thanks for all the photos, replies and messages. Sorry I couldn’t respond to all, a busy night ahead and a tricky morning too. Stay warm and stay safe.
Oh my!
The longer range outlook is looking excellent on latest ECWMF ensembles with high pressure building next week along with some real heat. Little too far out yet but this looks good.
Total rainfall forecast for next 10 days and it’s a long time since I seen so little forecast for 10 days. High pressure moving towards us and could be a little stubborn to move hopefully 🤞
It is has eased now but super clear skies so hoping it might kick off again. A great display here at the Ring of the Rath hillfort in Tullow. Photos from camera on tripod and drone.

Another video of the funnel cloud near Dublin Airport in last hour.
This was recorded by Matt Fitzsimons who reported seeing a few funnel clouds forming and this was the largest of them.
Reduce car use is Government policy, however
@KildareCoCo
have once again issued a number of tickets on cars parked at an M9 junction where people park to carpool. How can we lack joined up thinking so badly??
More counties gone Red and Orange now!
Status Red - Wind warning for Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Meath, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath. Clare, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, east Galway, south Roscommon.
Very rare to see weather models showing all of the country to be have gusts in excess of 90kmh tomorrow evening and large parts over 110kmh.
#StormIsha
isn’t looking like your ordinary storm! The next update of models this evening will be interesting.
Flying home tonight and got into a window seat to keep an eye out for the Northern lights. Managed to capture on my iPhone, not as strong as last night but nice to catch them all the same!
Ohh we need this badly, a nice big stubborn high pressure to keep us dry and settled next week🤞
Will mean less excuses to get and walk for all those New Year resolutions too😁
I put a lot of effort into getting the wildflower area ready this year but it has paid off with an amazing display now that is absolutely alive with insects now. The main seed used was native wildflower seed from
@BloomingNative
I purchased a 5kw Solar PV install from Carlow company Infinite Energy in recent weeks and today was best day yet with over 30kWh generated!
I’ll be sharing my experiences with Solar PV on my Carlow Weather accounts over the coming year to try help raise awareness of solar…
No named storm this weekend, so time to to relax with
@eimeardeschemer
after a busy month of weather. Thanks for all the positive messages and support over the last few weeks. Carlow weather isn’t just hobby, it’s a passion for me. Let’s hope I’m forecasting heatwaves in summer.
My father had mentioned that he had seen a Woodpecker feeding on his bird feeder and this photo my Aunt took today shows he was spot on. Fine looking bird and a good time to start thinking about getting a bird feeder if you don’t already have one as we head into Winter soon.
*Good news update*
Pressure and temperatures rising as we head into the first full week of September. Up to 24c possible by Tuesday and after showers tomorrow (Friday) very little if any rain in sight for the following 5 days at least with plenty of sunshine too 🥳
