🧵 We’ve recently identified some local authorities incorrectly stating that EHC plans can only be amended after an annual review if ‘significant’ changes are needed or following a phase transfer review. This is not correct. 1/3

Thank you advocating for 16+ students, so often forgotten in govt policy. Transport to school/college for students with SEND is another area where support suddenly falls away for 16-19 year olds. We need a more equitable system across the age range.
Disadvantage doesn't stop at 16, yet funding for disadvantaged students falls off a cliff edge at 16 and the attainment gap is widening. That's why I asked the Education Secretary what she is doing to address this gap so all young people have access to the same opportunities.

As your child gets older, you might have to decide whether they’re able to make decisions for themselves. If not, there may be legal steps you can take to make decisions on their behalf. We've updated our pages on this topic, covering all UK nations:

On this page, we talk about parental responsibility, mental capacity and making decisions with your child as they get older.
