Its so great seeing so many doing their best for their kids, nephews, nieces, and grandkids. I know a lot of folks did their very best to make a great Christmas morning for kids. People up wrapping till 2am. Grabbing stocking stuffers... I see ya!

"Closing the gap" is a fallacy. Teaching broadens gaps. That's what it's supposed to do. Want to close the gap? "Close your books, pencils down." The gap disappears. No more ignoring the kid who tries. Its tripping over dollars to pick up pennies.
Schools spend hours trying to “reach” the kid who openly doesn’t care, while the kid who tries every day quietly gets ignored. We’re exhausting ourselves chasing resistance instead of investing in effort.

Coming soon to CCSD? Minimum 60. Voluntary student attendance (like Chicago for some). Retaliatory reassignment.
Update to this: I refused to inflate the student's grade to a 60. I've only seen the student twice. Admin called me in after school today and said I'm moving to Special Education after the break. They can't fire you, but they can give you a non-preferred teaching assignment.
