I am smart, I love raising money for charity and I have even published a children's book. But I've also been made to feel like a child and patted on the head like a dog. Here's how you can talk to me.

Another destructive and short-sighted round of mass redundancies at @Macquarie_Uni. @NTEUNSW members at MQ have rejected management’s dog-eat-dog vision and are organising against tie cuts and for a better Uni. ✊✊✊
Squid Game Mark II for professional staff at my own university, @Macquarie_Uni has begun. More than 300 positions terminated while senior executives are cocooned from cuts. They now have to fight each other for new positions. But we are fighting back 1/7 #savehigheredjobs

At one point this week in the cell culture lab I calculated the mean age of researchers working there was ~ 57 yrs. The current funding crisis means we are losing so many ECRs and MCRs!
Basic research is the essential foundation that needs investment if we are to #AdvanceAustraliaCare

I don't think anyone is listening. The current plight of discovery research is not new, and it keeps just getting worse. Mental health of the medical research community is at a dangerous low.
#AdvanceAustraliaCare in the media 👇 It is key to note: - There has been no new investment in the @nhmrc since 2006 - Grants awarded to basic sciences through the NHMRC are steadily decreasing (taking today’s announcement into account, it is 15% less this year than in 2018-19)
