Modern college athletics rests on a set of regressive transfers. The pandemic is revealing this corrupt bargain by forcing shools to cancel money losing sports, slow new building, and reduce salaries. We demonstrate these dynamics in a new paper (1/6).

If only there was a magical way to get sufficient quantities of supply when you can’t domestically produce enough …

President Trump pushes for Coca-Cola sweetened with cane sugar, which makes up a fraction of domestic sugar and sweetener use.

This desire by the political left to turn Colbert into some type of political martyr is pathetic. He is currently making $15 million/year in a declining market. That couldn’t last. He is free to tour and tell (what I find are quite funny) jokes without any repercussions.
Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

This is, at best, an uninformed but more likely a deliberately outdated view of trials in China. Particularly when he downplays the extent of insights Pharma BD has into trials. Buyers are not blind to trial quality. I also think it exaggerates importance of Phase 1 advantage.
How much oversight is there of phase one data coming out of China? CEO @zachweinberg doesn't think there's nearly enough, and joined Post-Hoc Live to argue for FDA restrictions on Chinese clinical data. Catch up on the conversation here:

If only there was a way that a Senator could use his power and influence to make sure that those in charge of public health policy shared this concern ….
I am pro-life. No child should die from a vaccine-preventable disease. Measles cases are now at the highest level since it was declared eliminated over 2 decades ago. To protect you & your family, please ensure that your child is up to date on vaccines.

Kids are the ultimate experience good …. Given they are hard for return, it’s reasonable to have some risk aversion. Perhaps people with kids could talk more about why they’re awesome and less about how hard it is?.
Very hard to understand the benefits and the costs prior to actually having the kid too. Increasing risk aversion over time could then be a contributor, too. Speaking only for myself, my prior on the benefit of being a dad was way too low and my prior on the cost was too high.

How can you read this and not think this family isn’t at best amazingly selfish and at worst child abusers. On selfish. Not vaccinating because your kids “won’t encounter” disease is horrible. On abuse - kids suffer because of parent’s horrible decision!

From a lone clinic in Texas to an entire school district in North Dakota, the virus is upending daily life and revealing a deeper crisis of belief.

I’m totally open to a faster and more transparent FDA process (as long as we also recognize the agency made great strides on this front in last two decades). Introducing politics into a voucher program opens the door to a less rigorous and trusted agency. This hurts everyone.

I’m often asked why I put so much emphasis on pharma innovation. Gilead is a prime example. If you’re my age, you grew up terrified of HIV. I remember so clearly when Magic announced he was positive. That HIV is now a manageable condition and preventable is amazing.

It is really hard to imagine what the new leadership at FDA is trying to do in cell and gene therapy. The economics of this sector have been challenging enough without introducing greater regulatory costs and uncertainty.
Along with loss of other senior FDA staff, this is a significant setback for cell gene therapy. The advent of these advances was one of Pres Trump's first term triumphs, along with his efforts to expand access to them. The field now faces a harder future.

Does this look like a “problem”? Or does it look like a simple pardonable offense? . I’m struggling to see the difference between this and the horror @JDVance sees in LA.
Gavin Newsom says he didn't have a problem until Trump got involved. Both of these photos were taken before the president authorized the national guard to go protect our border patrol in California. Does this look like "no problem"? . Newsom and his stooge Karen Bass fomented

In which Secretary Kennedy invites @SenBillCassidy to try and kick the football one more time ….
Of course, now the fear is that the ACIP will be filled up with people who know nothing about vaccines except suspicion. I’ve just spoken with Secretary Kennedy, and I’ll continue to talk with him to ensure this is not the case.
