We say the words “humanitarian crisis” but this is what it means: the screams of a toddler being operated on without enough anaesthetics. We know what needs to be done. A ceasefire now. The release of all hostages. The restoration of aid. @YvetteCooperMP in the UNSC on Gaza.

Reports of mass civilian casualties in El Fasher, Sudan are deeply shocking - for too long the warring parties have shown blatant disregard for humanitarian law. We demand accountability, urgent de-escalation and protection of civilians. Aid must be able to reach those in need.

The UK stands with our Estonian allies, following yet another reckless incursion into NATO airspace by Russia. We must continue to increase pressure on Putin, including driving forward the important new economic sanctions announced by the UK & EU in recent days.

Iran must never acquire a nuclear weapon. Today’s @UN Security Council vote means sanctions against Iran’s nuclear programme will be reimposed at the end of September unless Iran changes course. There is still time for diplomacy but this requires concrete actions from Iran.

Alongside my European counterparts, I spoke with @araghchi to reiterate concerns over Iran’s nuclear programme. The UK remains committed to diplomacy, but Iran has not taken the steps needed to avoid reapplication of sanctions. We need concrete action.

This morning's barbaric attack on Ukraine and the egregious and unprecedented violation of Polish and NATO airspace by Russian drones is deeply concerning.

The UK condemns Israel’s strikes on Doha, which are a flagrant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, and risk setting back negotiations for a ceasefire, which is the only way to achieve lasting peace. Further escalation in the Middle East must be avoided.
